Job summary

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting a Principal Engineer, Platform & Cloud Engineering in our R&D Advanced Computing group. This role focuses on Digital Imaging technologies and can be located in Beerse, NL, Madrid, ES, Maidenhead, UK, Raritan, NJ, or Spring House, PA.

The team delivers high-performing, scalable solutions, leveraging cloud platforms and AI to accelerate imaging workflows and research across multiple therapeutic areas.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Science, or related field and 6+ years of experience; OR a Master’s degree and 4+ years of experience.
• Proven ability to lead technology platforms, programs, and projects with technical acumen.
• Experience with Python, Java, C++, or related programming language.
• Experience with AWS EC2 and S3.
• Experience with container functionality (Docker/Singularity/Kubernetes) and AWS EKS.
• Experience with Windows and Linux platforms.
• Experience with technical vendor management.
• Experience working on cross-functional and global teams.
• Experience working in a fast-paced collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Set technology strategy/roadmaps and lead deployments for Digital Imaging platforms.
• Maintain strong partnerships with business units across Pre-Clinical, Oncology, Neuroscience, Immunology, and Data Sciences.
• Contribute in identifying opportunities and impact for Digital Imaging platforms in pharmaceutical R&D.
• Collaborate with IT and external partners to align with enterprise technology leadership.
• Drive the technology stack, including scheduling, monitoring, and deployment tooling.
• Leverage cloud capabilities to deliver scalable, cost-efficient solutions.
• Establish sustainable operational processing and resource models.
• Stay current with containerization, serverless, and AI/ML advancements.
• Design and develop AI platforms, including LLM-powered applications and RAG workflows.
