Job summary

ClientEarth in Brussels is seeking a Senior Philanthropy Officer to manage a donor portfolio, secure renewals and uplifts, and grow our donor base across multiple countries. The role collaborates with the Development Department and major donors, trusts and foundations, delivering compelling donor communications and reports.

Qualifications

• Experience in donor stewardship and relationship development with evidence of securing or managing five and six figure gifts.
• Experience in identifying, cultivating and soliciting prospects.
• Ability to write compelling fundraising communications materials including donor reports and proposals.
• Experience raising funds from donors in different geographies.

Responsibilities

• Actively manage donor relationships across an assigned portfolio, providing stewardship and reporting to secure renewals and uplifts.
• Develop the pipeline of new donors through prospect research and networking at external/internal events as a ClientEarth representative.
• Write and develop public-facing fundraising materials for donors, aligned with brand guidelines, in coordination with communications and programme staff.
• Keep up to date with fundraising trends and share knowledge within the Philanthropy team and Development department.

This role offers the chance to join a high‑performant, deeply collaborative Philanthropy Team within ClientEarth’s Development Department, working closely with major donors, trusts, and foundations across multiple countries.

Key Responsibilities

• Actively manage donor relationships across an assigned portfolio of supporters, within agreed strategy and targets, providing first-class stewardship and reporting to secure renewals and uplifts.
• Develop the pipeline of new donors through effective prospect research, network mapping and connecting with new contacts at external and internal events as a representative of ClientEarth.
• Write and develop public-facing communications materials for donors, consistent with brand guidelines, in coordination with the communications team and programme staff as appropriate.
• Keep up to date with fundraising trends and ensure these are worked into internal activities and planning. Facilitate knowledge sharing within the Philanthropy team and across the Development department.
