ScioTeq is seeking a senior optics engineer to own optical subsystems for avionics display projects from concept to production. You will lead design, simulation, testing and validation in a hands-on lab environment, driving colorimetry, photometry and system performance improvements.

You will collaborate with mechanics, electronics, software and manufacturing teams while translating advanced optics into reliable, high-performance products for demanding aviation environments.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering (Optics/Applied Physics) or equivalent experience.
• Several years of experience in optics, display tech, LED or light systems.
• Experience taking ownership from concept through industrialization and production.
• Strong understanding of optics, light behavior, colorimetry and photometry.
• Hands-on, pragmatic mindset; able to collaborate across mech, elec, software and manufacturing.

• Define specifications and concepts for optical subsystems (LCD, backlight, LED).
• Design, simulate and implement optical solutions.

• Contribute to developments in µLED, eLED and projection technologies.
• Conduct optics studies, research and characterization activities.
• Translate emerging technologies into practical product solutions.

• Transfer designs into production and support manufacturing with issue resolution.

Do you want to contribute to cutting‑edge avionics display solutions and apply your optics expertise to real‑world products?

In this senior role, you will take end‑to‑end ownership of optical subsystems within innovative display projects from concept and technology selection to validation, industrialization and production support.

You will combine strong technical expertise with a hands‑on mindset, helping us translate advanced optical technologies into reliable, high‑performance solutions for demanding avionics environments.

Responsibilities

• You design, develop and industrialize optical solutions for display applications, ensuring quality, performance and cost targets are met.
• You define specifications and concepts for optical subsystems (LCD, backlight, LED, etc.).
• You design, simulate and implement optical solutions.
• You test, debug and validate system performance (colorimetry, photometry).
• You work in a hands‑on lab and darkroom environment.
• You contribute to developments in µLED, eLED and projection technologies.
• You conduct optics studies, research and characterization activities.
• You translate emerging technologies into practical product solutions.
• You support and improve existing products.
• You manage obsolescence challenges throughout the product lifecycle.
• You ensure reliable and cost-effective optical solutions.
• You transfer designs into production.
• You support manufacturing and resolve technical issues.

• You act as technical owner of your subsystem and take a leading role in technical discussions and decision‑making.
• You collaborate with project managers, customers, international suppliers and multidisciplinary R&D colleagues.
• You contribute actively within the R&D team.
• You report to the R&D Manager.

Profile

• You hold a Master's degree in Engineering, preferably in Optics, Applied Physics or equivalent through experience.
• You bring several years of relevant experience in optics, display technology, LED or light systems.
• You have experience taking ownership of technical developments from concept through industrialization and production.
• You have a strong understanding of optics, light behavior, colorimetry and photometry.
• You enjoy working across disciplines such as mechanics, electronics, software, firmware and manufacturing.
• You combine technical expertise with a hands‑on, pragmatic mindset.
• You are familiar with tools such as Matlab- and Eldim UMaster.
• You have strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• You are curious, innovative and eager to learn.
• You communicate fluently in English.
