Job summary

Lonza is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer based in Bornem to lead the design of complex mechanical assemblies. You will translate customer needs into innovative concepts, develop prototypes, and ensure seamless transfer of technology to manufacturing.

Proficiency in CAD, FEA, and motion simulations is required, with a strong emphasis on safety and reliability. The role demands a Master’s degree in Engineering and at least 10 years of mechanical design experience, plus fluency in Dutch

Qualifications

Master degree in Engineering or equivalent.
10 years experience in mechanical designing.
Fluency in Dutch and English.
Experience with state-of-the-art machinery development and new technologies.

Responsibilities

Translate customer requirements into innovative designs and participate in design reviews.
Assemble prototypes and implement learnings to optimize the final product.
Ensure smooth transfer of design specs to manufacturing across project phases.
Focus on safety, environmental aspects and maintainability.
Identify wear parts early and balance investment with maintenance costs.
Produce accurate assembly/detailed drawings and parts lists with proper filing.
Request quotes and manage deliveries to ensure high-quality components.
Serve as internal CAD expert and coach junior draftsmen.
