Job summary

Halian Group in Brussels, Belgium, seeks a Senior Java Analyst Developer / Technical Lead to join its IT team. The role blends hands-on Java development with architectural leadership, maintenance and collaboration with business stakeholders.

You will design and oversee backend architecture, lead technical decisions, coach developers, translate requirements into technical solutions, and drive release management, testing, and ongoing process improvements.

Qualifications

• Degree in IT or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 5 years of hands-on Java development experience.
• Strong knowledge of Java 7/8/11/17, Spring, JEE, RESTful Web Services, SOAP, concurrency and multithreading.
• Experience with Maven, Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, Jira, GlassFish/WildFly, and SQL Server.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, ReactJS, Linux/Unix and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) is a plus.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and ownership; fluent English and Dutch or French.

Responsibilities

• Design and oversee the technical architecture of Java applications while developing robust, scalable backend solutions.
• Lead technical decision-making, code reviews, and ensure high standards of code quality.
• Coach and mentor Java developers, partnering with Product Owners and business users.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions and deliver new apps within scope and planning.
• Maintain and improve existing applications by addressing bugs and performing root-cause analysis.
• Support release management, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement of development processes and security.
