Médiane Benelux in Brussels is seeking a Senior IT System Engineer to support high-availability IT environments used in train, tram and metro infrastructure. You will provide 2nd line system support and maintain IT infrastructure. The role requires strong Linux (CentOS/RedHat), VMware, scripting in Bash or Python, and experience with HA production systems.

Job Description

For one of our clients active in the railway infrastructure sector, we are looking for a Senior IT System Engineer to support high-availability IT environments used in train, tram and metro infrastructure.

Mission

You will provide 2nd line system support, maintain IT infrastructure, manage incidents, perform updates and patches, and contribute to infrastructure security and continuous improvement.

Main Responsibilities

• Maintain, install and configure hardware and software environments.
• Follow up on incidents, failures and changes.
• Perform testing, debugging, updates and patches.
• Provide 2nd line support and participate in on-call rotations.
• Support go-live and hypercare periods, sometimes outside business hours.
• Document technical procedures and keep documentation up to date.

Required qualifications

Required Skills

• Strong experience in IT infrastructure and system engineering.
• Very good knowledge of Linux CentOS / RedHat.
• Scripting skills: Bash and/or Python.
• Very good knowledge of VMware, vSphere, vCenter, vMotion.
• Experience in high-availability production environments.
• Basic network knowledge: router, switch, VPN, firewall.
• Strong troubleshooting and support skills.

Languages

• Dutch and French: must be spoken and understood.
• English: fluent.

Nice to Have

• Veeam, Puppet, Nagios, Elastic Stack / Kibana.
• MySQL / PostgreSQL.
• Jira, Confluence, Git.
