Job summary

All European Careers BENELUX is seeking a Senior IT Operations Engineer to optimize and secure hybrid cloud infrastructure in Brussels. You will manage containerized environments with Docker/Kubernetes, support network architecture, and implement automation across Terraform, Ansible, and CI/CD pipelines. English fluency is required.

Candidates based in Europe within 2 hours of Brussels and willing to be on-site 5 days per month will be considered. A work permit is required but not provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS/IT/Systems Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years of professional IT experience.
• Strong knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
• Experience with network architecture, distributed systems and hybrid cloud infrastructure.
• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, Redis/LRU caching.
• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Kafka, RabbitMQ.
• IaC with Terraform or CloudFormation; familiar with Ansible.
• Git, Jenkins and GitLab CI for version control and CI/CD.
• Knowledge of security and vulnerability tools (OWASP, SonarQube), encryption and identity management.
• Familiarity with AI-powered coding assistants like GitHub Copilot.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are looking for a Senior IT Operations Engineer for an international organization in Brussels, Belgium, with strong expertise in Docker, Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, network architecture and DevOps technologies.

You will support and optimize scalable IT infrastructure, integrating distributed systems, hybrid cloud environments, containerized applications and infrastructure automation to ensure reliable, secure and efficient operations.

Candidates need to be based in Europe within 2 hours of Brussels. Consultants will need to go 5 days per month on-site. European candidates are welcome to apply, but need to relocate to Brussels or within 2 hours of Brussels. A work permit is required but not provided.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize IT infrastructure and containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes;
• Support network architecture and distributed systems integration across hybrid cloud environments;
• Manage infrastructure monitoring, performance and real-time alerting using Prometheus and Grafana;
• Implement and maintain load balancing, caching and messaging solutions using technologies such as Redis, Kafka and RabbitMQ;
• Support relational and NoSQL database environments;
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation and Ansible;
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines using Git, Jenkins and GitLab CI;
• Apply security best practices, vulnerability scanning, encryption and identity management to infrastructure and applications.

Profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering or a related field;
• 6+ years of professional IT experience;
• Strong knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and application orchestration;
• Experience with network architecture, distributed systems and hybrid cloud infrastructure;
• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, load balancing and caching technologies such as Redis;
• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Kafka and RabbitMQ;
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation, with familiarity with Ansible;
• Experience with Git, Jenkins and GitLab CI for version control and CI/CD;
• Knowledge of security and vulnerability scanning tools, such as OWASP-related tools and SonarQube, including encryption, identity management and secure coding practices;
• Familiarity with AI-powered coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot or Amazon Kiro.
• Good knowledge of the European Commission IT ecosystem would be an advantage.
• Fluent English is required.
