Job summary

Elia Group in Belgium seeks a Senior GL Accountant to ensure accurate General Ledger accounting for Belgian entities. You will support month-end and year-end closings, perform reconciliations, and coordinate intercompany activities with stakeholders while contributing to timely financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in General Ledger Accounting within an international environment.
• Strong knowledge of Belgian GAAP; IFRS exposure is an advantage.
• Solid experience with month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Experience supporting audits and financial reporting processes.

Responsibilities

• Perform and support GL accounting activities for Belgian entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with standards.
• Lead monthly, quarterly and year-end closing activities and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
• Prepare, review and validate journal entries, accruals, provisions and other adjustments.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and resolution of outstanding items.
• Coordinate intercompany accounting activities and reconciliations with stakeholders.
• Support statutory reporting and contribute to financial statements and disclosures.
• Participate in audits and provide required documentation and explanations.
• Monitor accounting controls and implement corrective actions.
• Assist stakeholders in accounting matters across Finance, Controlling, Tax and Treasury.
• Participate in standardisation, automation, and digitalisation of processes.
• Review and approve supplier invoices and provide payroll back-up when needed.
