Job summary

Engibex, a Belgian engineering consultancy, seeks a Senior FPGA Engineer to take technical ownership of gateware, shaping architecture from system requirements and driving design and verification quality. You will mentor junior engineers and lead small FPGA teams across units such as on-board computers and optical transceivers.

You'll collaborate closely with EE, embedded software, RF, and systems teams to translate system intent into robust RTL, standards-driven verification, and reusable

Qualifications

• 5 to 10 years of professional FPGA/RTL design experience
• Master or PhD in a relevant engineering field
• Strong command of RTL programming (VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog)
• Experience with C and Python
• Solid understanding of the full FPGA design flow (synthesis, place & route, timing)
• Strong understanding of software/hardware interactions
• Experience with version control and CI
• Experience with digital signal or image processing
• Proven ability to mentor engineers and provide technical leadership
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Comfortable in a lab environment with test equipment
• Good English knowledge
• Passion for digital design

Responsibilities

• Define and own the FPGA design architecture from system requirements, including major trade-offs
• Design, simulate, integrate and test RTL code while reviewing the RTL of others
• Drive the verification strategy (testbenches, on-target tests, CI)
• Write and test software driver code
• Write and review technical documentation
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, and lead small FPGA teams
• Interface with EE, RF, Ops, Embedded SW, System teams and represent FPGA in cross-unit decisions
