Job summary

The editor will work with reporters and editors on sourcing, reporting questions, and final edits of sensitive content, while helping write newsroom policies and style guidelines.

Qualifications

• Written and verbal fluency in English.
• Ability to calmly juggle multiple tasks in stressful situations.
• Desire to collaborate with journalists across the newsroom, helping broker solutions to challenging situations.
• Excellent judgment and reasoning skills.
• Experience editing complicated and sensitive stories preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a hands‑on editor offering pre‑publication guidance on reporting
• Provide a final edit on sensitive content
• Address and resolve issues related to our journalism after it is published
• Help research and write newsroom policies and stylebook entries
• Assist in designing training programs for POLITICO journalists
• Ensure quality controls are in place across the newsroom
