Job summary

Sopra Steria in Belgium seeks a Senior DevOps Engineer to design, automate, and govern the delivery lifecycle of containerized apps on OpenShift. You will implement release governance, templates, and deployment approvals, while collaborating with cross-functional teams across security and operations.

You will build robust CI/CD pipelines, manage artifacts with Nexus/JFrog, and drive observability, incident analysis, and scalable deployments in a fast-paced enterprise setting.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for OpenShift-based apps.
• Proficiency with Jenkins or GitLab CI/CD, plus Git tooling and code repositories.
• DevSecOps mindset with vulnerability and dependency management.
• Experience with container registries (Nexus or Artifactory) and Observability stacks.
• Strong Java/Spring Boot background and REST/microservice exposure.
• Fluent English; French or Dutch is highly valued.

Job Description

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will design, automate, and govern the software delivery lifecycle of containerized applications deployed on OpenShift. The role combines CI/CD engineering, DevSecOps practices, platform automation, observability, and release governance to ensure secure, reliable, and compliant delivery of enterprise applications.

You will design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD or Jenkins and automate build, testing, quality, security, and deployment processes. You will also implement release governance and deployment approval workflows, maintain reusable pipeline templates, and support application lifecycle and release management activities.

Working closely with development teams, architects, security specialists, and operations teams, you will help industrialize application delivery and drive continuous improvement across the software development lifecycle. You will support the deployment and operation of applications on OpenShift, work with Helm charts and container configurations, and help optimize application scalability, resilience, and resource consumption.

Security and reliability will be central to your role. You will integrate security controls into delivery pipelines, contribute to vulnerability and dependency management, and ensure the traceability and reproducibility of software releases. You will also implement monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and observability solutions while supporting incident analysis and root cause investigations.

The main client for this position is BOSA. Other assignments may also be part of the role, in close collaboration with the DevOps team at Sopra Steria Belgium.

Qualifications

• Containers & Platforms: OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, Helm
• CI/CD & GitOps: Jenkins and/or GitLab CI/CD, Git, Bitbucket/GitLab, Argo CD
• DevSecOps: SonarQube, Snyk or similar, vulnerability and dependency management, secrets management
• Repositories: Nexus or JFrog Artifactory
• Monitoring & Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, centralized logging
• Development ecosystem: Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices
• Ways of working: Jira, release management, automated testing and Infrastructure as Code
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work autonomously and coach development teams and junior DevOps colleagues
• Languages: English and French or Dutch are mandatory. Knowledge of the second national language is an asset.

Experience with HashiCorp Vault, Apache Kafka, the ELK Stack, Camunda BPMN, Renovate, Dependabot, or public-sector environments is considered an advantage.
