Job summary

Pauwels Consulting seeks a Senior Data Governance Expert to join the data office and drive transformation in the public health sector. You will implement and coordinate data governance frameworks, coach data stewards, and lead data quality initiatives to support strategic policies.

You will define roles for data stewards and owners, lead the data stewardship community, and coordinate the population of the glossary and catalog to ensure metadata completeness.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Data Governance and Data Quality Management.
• 5+ years of experience with Metadata Management, Business Glossaries and Data Governance Tools.
• 3+ years of Master Data Management (MDM) and Project Management.
• 3+ years of Change Management to drive data culture and literacy.
• 3+ years of SQL experience.
• Master’s degree in IT, Economics, Management or related field.
• Experience implementing and managing a Data Catalog.
• Solid GDPR knowledge and its application to data management.
• Proactive, solution-oriented with strong communication skills.
• Native in Dutch or French with active English and the other national language.

Responsibilities

Our client, a leading organization in the public health sector, is looking for a Senior Data Governance Expert to join their data office and drive transformation. This role focuses on implementing and coordinating data governance frameworks, coaching data stewards, and leading data quality initiatives to support strategic public policies.

• Define roles and responsibilities for data stewards and data owners while providing ongoing coaching and support.


• Lead and animate the data stewardship community by facilitating meetings, tracking actions, and sharing best practices.


• Coordinate the population and maintenance of the business glossary and data catalog to ensure metadata completeness and consistency.


• Initiate and oversee data quality improvement projects, including the definition of rules, prioritization of tasks, and reporting.


• Contribute to the development of organizational data governance policies, guidelines, and standards.


• Support data literacy programs by selecting training materials and monitoring organizational data maturity.

• 8+ years of experience in Data Governance and Data Quality Management within large-scale organizations.


• 5+ years of experience with Metadata Management, Business Glossaries, and Data Governance Tools.


• 3+ years of experience in Master Data Management (MDM) and Project Management.


• 3+ years of experience in Change Management to drive data culture and literacy.


• 3+ years of experience with SQL.


• You possess a Master’s degree in Information Technology, Economics, Management, or a related field.


• You bring practical experience in implementing and managing a Data Catalog.


• You have a solid understanding of GDPR regulations and their application to data management.


• You are proactive and solution-oriented with excellent communication skills.


• You are native in Dutch or French with active knowledge of English and the other national language (French or Dutch).

Nice to Haves

• Practical knowledge of Databricks.


• Experience with specialized Data Quality assessment tools.
