Your Role
As Senior Business Developer Lifestyle Insurances at SPB Benelux, you are at the intersection of product strategy, market development, and client partnership. You closely monitor the market, identify emerging trends, and take ownership of innovation in new products and services — owning the full lifecycle from market intelligence through to commercialization.
You ensure that our product and service portfolio remains relevant, taking into account the needs of (end) customers, partners, and applicable legislation. You operate with a high degree of autonomy, co-lead strategic initiatives, and influence senior stakeholders.
In this role, you report directly to the Chief Commercial Officer and are part of the commercial team to define priorities and deliver results.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Market Intelligence
- Lead the analysis of our product and service portfolio — covering coverage, pricing, and competitiveness — and make strategic recommendations to the CCO.
- Monitor market developments and identify new product segments and market opportunities across Belgium and Luxembourg; propose improvements to products and services to meet the needs of partners and (end) customers.
- Monitor regulatory developments (insurance legislation, FSMA requirements) and proactively assess their impact on our offering — translating complexity into clear internal guidance.
New Product Development & Commercialization
- Develop new insurance products and programs, from concept through launch readiness, product documentation, partner training materials, pricing models, and compliance sign-off coordination and prepare them for commercialization.
- Together with insurance partners, evaluate and recommend new product verticals aligned with SPB’s sector focus: mobile, retail, banking, mobility, and energy.
Client & Partner Development
- Manage and deepen relationships with strategic partners and key accounts — participating in governance committees, reviewing KPIs, and identifying new program opportunities.
- Prepare and co-lead client meetings at senior level (C-suite, procurement), delivering compelling proposals and presentations.
- Support the Commercial Director in RFP responses and new business pitches.
- Maintain a strong network with insurers and underwriters.
Internal Collaboration
- Act as a knowledge hub for the commercial team — equipping them with market insights and structured competitive intelligence; in return, gather feedback from clients and prospects via the sales team.
- Ensure structured internal and external communication on regulatory changes, product updates, and market evolutions, working closely with insurers, clients, and colleagues.
- Collaborate with the Commercial Director on commercial strategy, quarterly priorities, and pipeline development.
Your Profile
We’re looking for a proactive, analytically strong, and commercially driven professional who:
- Holds, preferably, a master’s degree in legal or business field, or has equivalent relevant experience.
- Has minimum 5 - 7 years of experience in sales or key account management, product management or a similar role.
- Has a solid knowledge of non-life insurance.
- Demonstrates excellent command of Dutch, with fluent communication in French; English is an asset.
- Is innovative, persuasive, and a strong communicator, with an analytical mindset, commercial acumen, and the ability to collaborate and lead projects effectively.
- Is able to operate independently, lead strategic initiatives, and influence senior stakeholders in a dynamic, international environment.
