Job summary

Intuitive is seeking a hands-on Staff Software Engineer to design, build, and operate the next-generation unified build system across robotic surgery platforms. You will own core build architecture, implement tooling, and scale systems across safety-critical C/C++ codebases while mentoring the team.

You will contribute Rust/C/C++/Python code, optimize build speed, and evolve CI infrastructure in production, collaborating with firmware, platform, and application teams to remove bottlenecks.

Qualifications

• Over 10 years of professional software engineering with hands-on ownership.
• Expertise in Bazel in complex C/C++ and embedded environments.
• Proven track record implementing and operating Bazel Remote Caching/Remote Execution at scale.
• Strong programming in Rust, C/C++, and Python.
• Ability to debug distributed build systems, CI pipelines, and build infra under production constraints.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain Bazel-based build systems for large-scale C/C++ embedded software.
• Directly implement and optimize Bazel Remote Caching and Remote Execution across local, CI, and cloud environments.
• Write production code in Rust, C/C++, and Python to support tooling and services.
• Own and evolve build performance, caching, parallelism, and reproducibility.
• Mentor engineers and drive architectural discussions on modern build practices.
