As an Application Owner – Railways Operations for Stations, you act as the bridge between business stakeholders, operational teams, and IT delivery, ensuring that applications supporting railway operations such as real estate, building facilities, telemetry IoT platforms, and energy management systems remain reliable, secure, and aligned with business and regulatory requirements. You are responsible for the full lifecycle of your applications, from strategy and roadmap definition to operational excellence and continuous improvement.
What is your role at SNCB?
As an Application Owner – Railways Operations for Stations, you will take on the following responsibilities:
- Act as end‑to‑end owner of one or more business‑critical applications in production mode related to real estate, building facilities, telemetry IoT platforms, or energy management.
- Define and maintain the application roadmap, ensuring alignment with operational, safety, and regulatory constraints.
- Prioritise enhancements, incidents, and technical improvements in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Ensure availability, performance monitoring, security, and compliance in alignment with application support setup.
- Maintain ownership and knowledge of application setup (technical, functional, support) and inform the budget owner on enhancement and evolution budgets.
- Follow up, review, and approve license and certification aspects of applications and keep the budget owner informed and updated.

You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT, engineering, or a related field, combined with proven experience as an Application Owner, Product Owner, or Application Manager.
Technical skills
- Strong understanding of mission‑critical systems in complex operational environments.
- Experience working in railway, energy, real estate, utilities, or industrial domains.
- Solid knowledge of application lifecycle management (ALM).
- Ability to work with Agile and/or ITIL‑based methodologies.
- Ensure availability, performance monitoring, security, and compliance of applications.
- Manage application roadmap definition and alignment with operational, safety, and regulatory constraints.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritise enhancements, incidents, and technical improvements.
- Work with external vendors or nearshore/offshore teams.
- Knowledge of energy management systems (EMS), SCADA, or operational control systems.
- Familiarity with enterprise integration patterns and data flows.
- Experience within regulated or safety‑critical environments.
- Manage license and certification aspects of applications.
Soft skills
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Demonstrate an analytical mindset with attention to reliability, safety, and risk.
Asset
- Fluent in English (spoken and written).
- Fluent in one of the local languages (French or Dutch) and understand the other.
- Experience working with external vendors or nearshore/offshore teams.
