Pauwels Consulting in Brussels is seeking an experienced AI Architect to drive strategic AI initiatives, designing scalable architectures and governance-compliant environments for enterprise AI.

You will lead ML/DL/NLP projects, implement MLOps, and mentor multidisciplinary teams while aligning AI work with broader IT strategy.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software design and architecture, APIs, microservices and distributed systems.
• 5+ years of expertise in AI/ML, including Deep Learning and NLP.
• 3+ years designing Cloud/hybrid architectures in Microsoft Azure and Azure AI Services.
• Proven AI Engineering and MLOps experience, using MLflow for monitoring and versioning.
• Knowledge of Generative AI, RAG, and AI Agents.
• Strong Python skills; data management with SQL, NoSQL and Vector Databases.
• Practical Docker and Kubernetes experience.
• Ability to translate complex business needs into pragmatic architectures and communicate to stakeholders.
• Collaborative leader capable of federating stakeholders around solutions.

Responsabilités

• Lead the technical development of an experimental lab for testing ML/Gen AI models.
• Define frameworks for LLMs, RAG and AI Agents.

Our client, a key organization in the public sector, is looking for an expert to drive their strategic vision for responsible artificial intelligence. The role focuses on designing scalable architectures and evolving an experimental environment for developing, testing, and validating advanced AI applications.

• Design reference architectures for AI solutions ensuring seamless integration into the existing IT ecosystem while meeting security and governance requirements.
• Lead the technical development of an experimental laboratory for testing and validating Machine Learning and Generative AI models.
• Define technical frameworks for modern AI technologies including Large Language Models (LLM), Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), and AI Agents.
• Oversee the implementation of MLOps pipelines, DevSecOps practices, and AI governance to ensure model auditability and risk management.
• Collaborate with project leads to evaluate technical feasibility and align AI initiatives with the broader IT strategy.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to multidisciplinary teams on AI engineering and architecture best practices.

• You have 8+ years of experience in software design and architecture, with a focus on APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• You possess 5+ years of expertise in artificial intelligence and Machine Learning, including Deep Learning and NLP.
• You bring 3+ years of experience designing Cloud or hybrid architectures, specifically within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem and Azure AI Services.
• You have proven experience in AI Engineering and MLOps, utilizing tools like MLflow for model monitoring, versioning, and industrialization.
• You possess deep knowledge of modern AI technologies, including Generative AI, RAG, and AI Agents.
• You have technical proficiency in Python and data management with SQL, NoSQL, and Vector Databases.
• You have practical experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
• You're able to translate complex business needs into pragmatic technical architectures and communicate them to stakeholders.
• You're a collaborative leader capable of guiding technical teams and federating stakeholders around common solutions.
• You are fluent in English with active knowledge of Dutch and French.

Nice to Haves

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or Software Engineering.
• Experience with Computer Vision or Speech AI.
• Familiarity with the AI Act and its implications for technical compliance.

• Duration: 3 months (prolongable)
• Work regime: Full-time
• Location: Brussels
• Working model: Hybrid (minimum 2 days per week onsite)
