FTI Consulting in Brussels is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Benelux Finance team. You will focus on accounting activities across the Netherlands and Nordic entities, with emphasis on revenue recognition under US GAAP and IFRS, and close processes that feed monthly P&L reporting.

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with PQE, fluent in English, highly proficient in Excel, and comfortable working in a matrix organisation and with external auditors.

Responsabilités

• Participate in accounting for country finance activities, primarily revenue recognition under US GAAP and IFRS.
• Prepare monthly statements and revenue-related reports.
• Perform month-end close for Dutch entities and assist other entities as required.
• Prepare and post monthly journal entries including WIP, AR reserves, bad debt, payroll, prepaid expenses.
• Prepare general ledger reconciliations in line with SOX requirements.
• Assist with the preparation of annual statutory accounts.
• Manage intercompany loan schedules and monthly interest accruals; perform inter-company reconciliations.
• Assist EMEA Finance in enhancing month-end processes.
• Go-to person for accounting issues for the Netherlands; provide technical accounting guidance.

About The Role

An exciting opportunity is available within our EMEA Finance team for a Senior Accountant to join our Benelux Accounting team.

The EMEA Finance organisation is a team of approximately 70 supporting the EMEA region of FTI Consulting across all areas of Finance: Billing, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Accounting, Tax and Planning & Analysis. This role is focused on accounting and supporting our business Segments in the reporting of their monthly P&L performance from revenue recognition through to EBITDA.

What You’ll Do

Participate in accounting for country finance activities, primarily revenue recognition. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of US GAAP / IFRS, as well as experience with revenue recognition, reporting, and controls. This person will report to the Benelux Finance Director and will be a key role in preparing financial statements for the Netherlands to support the business growth.

Monthly Accounting Close – primarily focusing on the Dutch entities (can also assist on other entities as required):

• Revenue Recognition:
• Review sales contracts to ensure proper revenue recognition under ASC 606 for US GAAP and local GAAP
• Analyse and understand various products/businesses and revenue/expense streams to ensure proper setup in the system and proper revenue recognition
• Month-end financial close review of revenue and expense ledgers with closing schedules: prepare revenue journal entries and account reconciliations
• Create and analyse revenue-related reports
• Involvement in monthly revenue estimates
• Participate in evaluation and documentation of revenue-related policies and procedures
• Prepare and post monthly journal entries to record:
• work in progress (‘WIP’) and accounts receivable reserves
• bad debt provision
• monthly payroll, based on payroll reports from external payroll agencies
• prepaid expenses and expense accrual schedules
• Preparation of general ledger account reconciliations in line with SOX requirements
• Assist with the preparation of annual statutory accounts
• Manage intercompany loan schedules and record monthly interest accruals
• Perform inter-company reconciliations for multiple EMEA entities
• Preparation of general ledger account reconciliations in line with SOX requirements, including monthly submission into the FTI Blackline environment
• Assist EMEA Finance team in the enhancement of month-end processes
  

Statutory Audit Process

• Assist with the preparation, finalisation and filing of annual statutory accounts primarily for the Dutch entities
• Assist with requests from internal audit team for US GAAP testing and group wide audit requirements
• Participation in other statutory audits of EMEA entities where required
  
  

Other Compliance

• Review preparation of the monthly, quarterly, annual VAT returns and EC Sales for the Dutch entities, coordinating with outsourced accountants/tax advisors and submission to the relevant authorities
• Coordinate with outsourced accountants/tax advisors to deliver other local compliance requirements
• Reconciliation of VAT (VAT return to statutory accounts)
• Support the Benelux Finance Director in managing all Netherlands and Nordic finance requirements
• Go-to person for all accounting issues for the Netherlands; technical accounting, finance processes and approvals

Basic Qualifications

• Fluency in English
• Degree-level education
• Qualified Accountant with multiple years’ experience PQE
• Technical understanding of relevant accounting standards, including ASC 606 / IFRS15 Revenue recognition accounting
• Experience in liaising with external auditors
• Experience of performing a month-end close process either within industry or from an audit/review perspective
• Excellent knowledge of Excel, including pivot tables and analysis formulas
• Dutch GAAP experience
• US GAAP or IFRS experience
• Professional services experience
• Familiarity of reporting into a US listed headquarter entity
