Daikin Europe is seeking a Security Application Engineer in Gent, Belgium, to embed security, compliance, and reliability into its IoT cloud applications across the lifecycle. You will combine security engineering with process ownership, ensuring secure-by-design solutions and regulatory alignment (CRA, NIS2).

You will work with development teams, architects, and stakeholders to strengthen security posture, support continuous improvement, and help manage governance, audits, and on-call readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in application and/or cloud security (IoT or distributed systems preferred).
• Web and API security (OWASP Top 10).
• Authentication and authorization mechanisms (OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT).
• Secure communication protocols (TLS, MQTT, HTTPS).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and their security services (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Experience with secure software development practices and DevSecOps.

Responsabilités

• Perform security design reviews and threat modeling with suppliers for new features and changes.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate vulnerabilities in cloud services, APIs, and integrations.
• Translate security requirements into practical technical controls with development teams.
• Organise and follow up on penetration testing activities and remediation.
• Define and improve security processes, including vulnerability management and patching.
• Support audits, internal assessments, and regulatory compliance (CRA, NIS2).
• Assist daily operations of IoT cloud apps, including incident follow-up and RCAs.
