EngiFlex BV seeks a skilled SCADA software engineer to maintain and evolve a critical 24/7 landscape that supports grid balancing across Belgium, France, Germany and the Netherlands, integrating new flexible assets.

You will join a development team responsible for real-time control of production units, data exchange with TSOs, and scalable SCADA applications, using SCIL, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and TypeScript.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in IT or electrical engineering with relevant software focus.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in SCADA/real-time control systems.
• Strong software engineering capabilities, including architecture and design patterns.

Responsabilités

• Maintain and develop a 24/7 SCADA landscape across Belgium and neighboring countries.
• Support real-time data exchange between transmission operators and the SCADA platform.
• Compute and transmit real-time setpoints to power plants using live data and balancing signals.
• Design, develop and maintain SCADA applications for real-time balancing activities.
• Contribute to front-end and back-end development using SCIL, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Apply architecture principles to deliver scalable and resilient solutions.
• Adhere to software craftsmanship practices like SOLID, DRY, KISS and YAGNI.
• Work in an Agile/SAFe setup with analysts, operators and stakeholders.
• Join an on-call rotation after onboarding to ensure 24/7 availability.

Tasks and responsibilities

You will be part of a development team that maintains and further develops a business-critical SCADA landscape running 24/7, supporting grid balancing operations across Belgium, France, Germany and the Netherlands. This environment is continuously growing through the integration of smaller and more flexible assets.

Within this application landscape, solutions enable real-time control of production units, connect flexibility assets and support compliance with European grid codes in the context of the energy transition.

• Monitor production assets and available generation capacity.


• Support the exchange of operational data between transmission system operators and the real-time SCADA platform.


• Calculate and transmit real-time setpoints to power plants based on production planning, live acquisition data and balancing signals such as FCR, aFRR and mFRR.


• Design, develop and maintain SCADA applications that support real-time balancing activities.


• Contribute to both front-end and back-end development using SCIL, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and TypeScript.


• Apply sound architecture principles to deliver scalable, robust and resilient solutions.


• Use software craftsmanship principles such as SOLID, DRY, KISS and YAGNI to keep the codebase maintainable and sustainable.


• Work in an Agile/SAFe setup together with analysts, operators and technical stakeholders.


• After onboarding, join an on-call rotation to help guarantee 24/7 availability and operational continuity.

Your profile

• You hold a master's degree in IT and/or electrical engineering, for example in software, electronics or electromechanics.


• You have at least 3 years of relevant experience.


• You combine an industrial mindset with strong software engineering capabilities, including architecture and design patterns.


• You understand the fundamentals of electricity generation and grid transport.


• You work proactively and in a structured way, with strong attention to stability in a high-responsibility environment.


• You are prepared to support critical incidents when needed and can first provide a quick fix, followed by a sustainable solution where appropriate.


• You are motivated to work in a team responsible for real-time operations.


• You collaborate effectively with peers, analysts, architects, business stakeholders and other teams.


• You learn quickly, take initiative and actively contribute to improvements in the environment and ways of working.


• You communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, with technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.
