EngiFlex in Belgium seeks a skilled SCADA software engineer to maintain and evolve a mission-critical real-time landscape across Belgium, France, Germany and the Netherlands. You will contribute to both front-end and back-end development using SCIL, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and TypeScript, focusing on reliability and scalability.

You will join a team delivering real-time control of production units, balancing signals, and interoperability with grid operators.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in IT and/or electrical engineering.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Industrial mindset with solid software engineering capabilities.
• Understanding of electricity production and grid transport.
• Willingness to support critical incidents and provide quick fixes then sustainable solutions.

Responsabilités

• Maintain and evolve a mission-critical SCADA landscape 24/7 in Belgium, France, Germany and the Netherlands.
• Drive real-time control of production units and balancing signals (FCR, aFRR, mFRR).
• Design, develop and maintain SCADA applications for real-time balancing operations.
• Contribute to front-end and back-end development using SCIL, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Apply SOLID, DRY, KISS and YAGNI to keep a clean, scalable codebase.
• Work in an Agile/SAFe setup with analysts, operators, and stakeholders.
• Participate in on-call rotation after onboarding to ensure 24/7 availability.

Tasks and responsibilities

You will be part of a development team maintaining and evolving a mission-critical SCADA landscape that runs 24/7 and supports grid balancing activities in Belgium, France, Germany and the Netherlands. The scope is growing through the integration of smaller and more flexible assets.

These applications enable real-time control of production units, connect flexibility assets and support compliance with European grid codes in the context of the energy transition.

• Track production assets and available generation capacity.
• Support the exchange of operational information between transmission system operators and the real-time SCADA platform.
• Compute and transmit real-time setpoints to power plants based on production planning, live acquisition data and balancing signals such as FCR, aFRR and mFRR.
• Design, develop and maintain SCADA applications used for real-time balancing operations.
• Contribute to both front-end and back-end development using SCIL, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Apply sound architectural principles to deliver scalable, robust and resilient solutions.
• Use software craftsmanship practices such as SOLID, DRY, KISS and YAGNI to maintain a clean and sustainable codebase.
• Work in an Agile/SAFe setup together with analysts, operators and technical stakeholders.
• After onboarding, take part in an on-call rotation to help guarantee 24/7 availability and continuity of operations.

Your profile

• You hold a master's degree in IT and/or electrical engineering, for example in software, electronics or electromechanics.
• You have at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• You combine an industrial mindset with solid software engineering capabilities, including architecture and design patterns.
• You understand the fundamentals of electricity production and grid transport.
• You work proactively and in a structured manner, with strong attention to stability in a high-responsibility environment.
• You are willing to support critical incidents when needed and can provide a quick fix first, followed by a sustainable solution when required.
• You are motivated to work within a team responsible for real-time operations.
• You collaborate easily with peers, analysts, architects, business stakeholders and other teams.
• You learn fast, show initiative and contribute actively to improvements in the environment and ways of working.
• You communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
