Job summary

i4m is seeking an experienced SAP Technical-Functional Consultant to join for a long-term assignment. You will blend ABAP development with functional analysis to support a migration to a new document management solution while preserving SAP document links.

You will work across SAP ABAP/OO, BAdIs, workflow, interface development (RFC, BAPI, IDoc, web services) and SAP S/4HANA with a focus on migration integrity and governance. Dutch/French and English proficiency are required.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of SAP development experience.
• Experience with ABAP and functional analysis.
• Experience migrating document management interfaces.
• Strong knowledge of SAP MM, FI and/or PM.
• Experience in SAP S/4HANA environments.

Responsibilities

• Analyse business requirements and translate them into functional and technical specifications with key users.
• Develop SAP solutions using ABAP and ABAP OO, including BAdIs, user exits, enhancement framework, ALV, Adobe Forms and Smartforms.
• Design, maintain and improve SAP Business Workflow processes.
• Develop and stabilise SAP interfaces using RFC, BAPI, IDoc and web services.
• Maintain and enhance SAP applications supporting operational and maintenance processes, using SAP PM, Web Dynpro ABAP, POWL and Fiori.
• Contribute to the migration of an existing document management integration towards a new solution, reviewing interfaces, configuring repositories, adapting document types and links.
• Ensure continued accessibility and traceability of documents linked to SAP business objects throughout the migration.
• Coordinate non-regression testing covering document consultation, archiving and workflows, and contribute to cutover preparation.
• Adapt authorisation roles and related security objects in line with SAP S/4HANA strategy.
• Prepare test scenarios and data, support UAT, document deliverables and transfer knowledge to the support team.

Function

We're looking for an experienced SAP Technical-Functional Consultant to join our client's team for a long-term consulting assignment. You will contribute to a strategic SAP development and document management integration project, combining hands‑on ABAP development with functional analysis and solution design. A key part of your mission will be to support the transition to a new document management solution while ensuring seamless access to existing documents and maintaining the integrity of SAP document links.

Responsibilities

Working closely with business stakeholders, IT teams and project management, you will take ownership of the analysis, design, development, testing and documentation of SAP solutions. Your main responsibilities will include:

• Analyse business requirements and translate them into functional and technical specifications in collaboration with key users.
• Develop and enhance SAP solutions using ABAP and ABAP OO, including BAdIs, user exits, enhancement framework, ALV, Adobe Forms and Smartforms.
• Design, maintain and improve SAP Business Workflow processes.
• Develop and stabilise SAP interfaces using RFC, BAPI, IDoc and web services, including integrations with external organisations.
• Maintain and enhance SAP applications supporting operational and maintenance processes, using SAP PM, Web Dynpro ABAP, POWL and Fiori.
• Contribute to the migration of an existing document management integration towards a new solution. This includes reviewing existing interfaces, configuring repositories, adapting document types and links, and replacing custom developments where necessary.
• Ensure continued accessibility and traceability of documents linked to SAP business objects throughout the migration.
• Coordinate non-regression testing covering document consultation, archiving and workflows, and contribute to cutover preparation.
• Adapt authorisation roles and related security objects while promoting standard SAP functionality and limiting custom developments in line with the client's SAP S/4HANA strategy.
• Prepare test scenarios and data, support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), document technical deliverables and facilitate knowledge transfer to the support team.

Your Profile

You bring at least 10 years of experience in SAP development, ideally combining strong technical expertise with functional understanding. You are comfortable working autonomously in complex SAP environments and can move seamlessly between business analysis, development and testing.

You will ideally have:

• Strong expertise in SAP ABAP and ABAP OO.
• Proven experience with SAP Business Workflow.
• Hands‑on experience with SAP ArchiveLink and integrations between SAP and external document management platforms.
• Knowledge of document management migrations, particularly the preservation of SAP document references and links.
• Solid experience with SAP interfaces, including RFC, BAPI, IDoc and web services.
• A good functional understanding of SAP MM, FI and/or PM.
• Experience working in SAP S/4HANA environments.
• Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
• A structured, proactive and rigorous approach to problem‑solving.

An SAP ABAP certification is considered an asset. Experience with SAP archive services, public‑sector integrations, SAP HR or the public transport industry would also be advantageous.

Practical Information

• Location: Hybrid working model, with 2 to 3 days per week on‑site.
• Languages: Native or bilingual proficiency in Dutch or French, combined with a good command of English.
