Job summary

Movu Robotics Innovation is seeking an R&D Mechanical Engineer in Lokeren, Belgium. You will lead mechanical design, prototype development, and production documentation for intralogistics robotics projects, collaborating with R&D, Service, and Testing teams.

You’ll design with NX, contribute to the full product lifecycle, and engage in multi-disciplinary interfaces to deliver robust mechatronic solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics or a related field.
• At least 5 years of engineering experience in relevant industries.
• Mechanical focus with interest in controls, electronics and software.
• Knowledge of CAD; experience with NX.

Responsibilities

• Review current automated warehouse solutions for performance and downtime.
• Collaborate with R&D, Service and Testing to identify improvements.
• Lead R&D activities for mechanical components and products.
• Develop a PoC and plan timelines per Product Development Process.
• Create mechanical designs of system modules (NX).
• Select components and perform calculations.
• Interface with controls to design a complete mechatronic solution.
• Produce full production files (BOMs, drawings, datasheets).
• Manage design states in PLM and revisions.
• Coordinate test specs with Test & Validation team.
• Review prototype test reports and adjust PoC as needed.
• Support assembly training with the production engineer.

Job Description

The R&D Mechanical engineer is responsible for the research and development of mechanical components and system modules. This includes conceptualization, design, engineering and testing of new prototype components and full systems.

Tasks & Responsibilities

• You review the current automated warehouse solutions based on performance, downtime, technical specifications, …
• You discuss with colleagues (R&D, Service, Testing, …) about improvement points of the Movu Robotics products.
• You take the lead on R&D activities concerning mechanical components and the full mechanical product.
• You develop a PoC and plan a timeline in accordance with Movu’s Product Development Process.
• You perform mechanical design of system modules (NX).
• You are responsible for component selection and calculation.
• You interface with controls specialists to design a complete, mechatronic, solution.
• You make full production files (BOM’s, drawings, datasheets).
• You manage design states and revisions in the PLM package.
• You discuss test specifications and set‑up with the Test & Validation team.
• You review prototype testing reports and adapt the PoC accordingly.
• You work together with the production engineer concerning assembly training for the blue collars.

Qualifications

• You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics or a related field.
• You have at least 5 years of engineering experience, preferably in the material handling, manufacturing, automation, machine or aerospace industries.
• Your expertise is mainly mechanical, but you have a keen interest in the full product picture, including controls, electronics and software.
• You have knowledge and experience in CAD. You have experience with NX.
• You are an autonomous team player.
• English is a must (C1 or higher).
• Knowledge of Dutch is highly recommended.
