Manufacture Belge de Chocolats, based in Brussels, seeks a Quality, Safety & Environmental Manager to uphold top-tier quality, safety and environmental standards. You will lead HACCP, GMP and certification processes, oversee supplier quality and drive continuous improvement while ensuring regulatory compliance across operations.

The role requires a Master’s degree in a related field and at least 10 years in a regulated environment, with proven team leadership and strong language skills

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field
  • 10+ years in the food industry or other highly regulated manufacturing environments
  • Proven experience in leading and developing teams
  • Fluent in French, English and/or Dutch
  • Strong expertise in food safety standards (HACCP, GMP, quality systems, regulatory compliance)
  • Solid knowledge of quality assurance, quality control, auditing, CAPA processes
  • Experience with risk assessment, incident investigations, and continuous improvement
  • Hands-on, proactive, ownership mindset
  • Excellent organisational, project management and communication skills
  • Dedication to quality, food safety, sustainability and continuous improvement

Responsabilités

  • Oversee QA/QC and food safety across production site
  • Lead HACCP, GMP and certification schemes like FSSC 22000
  • Oversee supplier qualifications and raw material approvals
  • Monitor regulatory developments and ensure compliance
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety and environmental performance
  • Coordinate environmental audits and risk assessments
  • Lead incident investigations and corrective actions

Your future role

As a Quality, Safety & Environmental Manager, you will ensure the highest standards of quality, safety and environmental responsibility across all operations by promoting continuous improvement, preventing risks, protecting people and assets and fostering a culture of excellence and accountability in order to safeguard people, ensure product integrity and minimize environmental impact while enabling sustainable business performance in compliance with applicable standards and regulations.

In this role, you will be assigned the following tasks:

Quality Control:
  • You will oversee quality control activities across the production site, ensuring the highest standards of product quality and food safety.
  • You will drive the effective management of non-conformities, root cause analyses, and corrective actions to continuously improve performance.
  • You will support HACCP activities and ensure risks are proactively identified and mitigated throughout the manufacturing process.
  • You will analyse quality trends, production deviations, and customer complaints to identify improvement opportunities and strengthen product consistency.
Quality Assurance:
  • You will lead the site's food safety and quality management systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • You will ensure the effective implementation of HACCP, GMP, and certification schemes such as FSSC 22000.
  • You will oversee supplier qualifications and raw material approval processes to guarantee product integrity and compliance.
  • You will monitor regulatory developments and ensure ongoing compliance with food safety, packaging, and quality legislation.
Health & Safety:
  • You will foster a proactive safety culture that protects the wellbeing of employees and promotes safe behaviours across the site.
  • You will ensure workplace risks are identified, assessed, and effectively controlled through robust safety programs and procedures.
  • You will lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and preventive actions to continuously improve safety performance.
  • You will monitor safety performance indicators and support continuous improvement of health and safety standards.
  • You will ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permits, and reporting requirements across the site.
  • You will monitor environmental performance and support initiatives aimed at reducing the site's environmental footprint.
  • You will contribute to environmental audits, risk assessments, and continuous improvement actions that support the company's sustainability objectives.
The profile we are looking for:
  • You graduated with a Master’s degree in food science, Food Engineering, Quality Management or equivalent.
  • You have extensive experience (10 years) within the food industry or another highly regulated manufacturing environment, with first experience in a similar role.
  • You have proven experience in leading and developing teams.
  • You are fluent in French, English and/or Dutch.
  • You have strong expertise in food safety standards, including HACCP, GMP, quality systems, and regulatory compliance.
  • You have solid knowledge of quality assurance, quality control, auditing, and corrective and preventive action processes.
  • You have experience with risk assessment, incident investigation, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • You are hands‑on, proactive and comfortable taking ownership of challenges and driving solutions
  • You have strong organisational, project management and communication skills, which enable you to manage priorities and collaborate effectively.
  • You are dedicated to encouraging a culture of quality, food safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
