Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of working experience in relevant field.
• Experience with full development cycle including requirements engineering, design, development, and integration.
• Knowledge or curiosity in sensors, effectors, and communication means for various technologies.
• Experience with end-to-end system design and integration.
• Ability to lead architecture trade-offs considering cost and schedule.
• Excellent written and spoken English; French/Dutch required.

• Define and propose for the related level candidate architectures allowing to meet stakeholders’ expectations in compliance with standardization and reuse policies, technology roadmap and business strategy.
• Establish the solution architecture through trade-offs between stakeholders’ expectations, technical & technological solutions and cost, risks and schedule, documents associated artefacts and approve resulting lower level specifications (whether internal or external).
• Contribute to the solution development cycle and co-engineering approach definition.
• Lead along the project life cycle for the related level requirements’ allocation, management of performance assessment and critical parameters.

Mission

As part of the engineering group of THALES Belgium, the Technical Proposal Manager for Defense and Security Solutions will be involved in the orientation and the definition of state‑of‑the‑art systems designed on site at THALES Belgium in various domains such as Land, Air, Naval and National Security solutions.

Location: Tubize, Belgium

Main Responsibilities

• Understand and analyze the Customer’s needs;
• Give support to commercial team for technical offers;
• Lead the offers related to all technical dimensions;
• Find the best solution and support the architecture definition to meet the customer requirements;
• Interface with the Customer, for the technical related aspects of the solution;
• Bring state of the art expertise for his/her field of expertise, specialty or domain;
• Define and propose for the related level (solution or solution element) candidate architectures allowing to meet stakeholders’ expectations in compliance with standardization and reuse policies, technology roadmap and business strategy;
• Establish the solution architecture through trade‑offs between stakeholders’ expectations, technical & technological solutions and cost, risks and schedule, documents associated artefacts and approve resulting lower level specifications (whether internal or external);
• Contribute to the solution development cycle and co‑engineering approach definition;
• Lead along the project life cycle for the related level requirements’ allocation, management of performance assessment and critical parameters.

Profile

• Engineering degree in Electronics / Computer Science / Telecommunications or a related field (with a minimum of 10 years of working experience);
• Knowledge or curiosity to learn about sensors, effectors and means of communication for vehicles, drones, counter‑drones and robots to provide protection, observation, local combat situation monitoring, command systems, augmented reality, decision support tools, interoperability…;
• Experience with technical public tenders;
• Experience with full development cycle (e.g. requirements engineering, design, development, test, integration);
• Experience in end‑to‑end designing (architecture), 3rd party integration and prototyping electronics/IT systems;
• Relevant experience in system integration into electronics/IT platforms and understanding of the integration impacts;
• Passionate about technologies, continuing education and problem solving;
• Customer satisfaction and results oriented;
• Ability to work independently when needed and be proactive;
• Innovative and creative mindset;
• Good communication skills, both verbally and written. Fluency in English, French/Dutch (≥ B2) is mandatory.
