Job summary

Tractebel, part of the ENGIE Group, seeks a Project Manager & Power System Expert to expand power system activities across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. You will lead grid-compliance projects, coordinate with TSOs, and deliver studies from concept through delivery, mentoring juniors along the way.

You will work in a flexible, hybrid setup with strong emphasis on international collaboration and high-level technical excellence, contributing to carbon-neutral energy goals.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering with focus on Power Systems.
• 4+ years in power system studies or experience with TSOs or power system consultancy.
• Fluent German and English; other languages advantageous.
• Experience with phasor simulations, system operation procedures, and EMT modelling.
• Knowledge of European grid codes; ability to structure tasks and manage stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage power system projects for Key Clients in the EMEA region with focus on grid compliance.
• Provide expert input from conception to delivery and coach juniors.
• Contribute to commercial activities for power system transmission services.
• Prepare and validate plant/network models; perform load flow and short circuit studies.
• Conduct dynamic analyses, EMT modelling, and generator/demand studies.
• Collaborate with German TSOs and interface with stakeholders; prepare technical reports.

As a Project Manager and Power System Expert, you will contribute to the expansion and development of our power system activities in Europe, Middle East & Africa. A wide range of services is offered to our clients, ranging from operation and planning power system studies, to the review and development of grid codes and standards. This role has a strong focus on managing grid-compliance processes, coordinating with European and German TSOs, and demonstrating compliance with applicable grid codes and technical requirements. This team has a world class expertise in Power Systems and is the center of excellence of the ENGIE Group for all related topics.

Your key responsibilities

• Manage power system projects for Key Clients in the EMEA region with a focus on grid compliance project for German and European clients, in close collaboration with our teams in Europe and Middle East
• Take an expert role on the different activities, from project conception & delivery to junior coaching
• Contribute to commercial activities of our power system transmission services
• Plant/Network model preparation & validation,
• Steady state (load flow, short circuit calculations etc),
• Dynamic analysis,
• EMT modelling and analysis
• Generator/demand connection studies
• Knowledge of European grid codes and VDE4130
• HVDC technology including control and operational aspects
• Interfacing with German TSOs during grid compliance process
• Managing stakeholders,
• Structuring client needs and preparing technical reports outlining the findings from the studies.

We would love to hear from people with

• You have a master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power System engineering
• You have at least 4 years of experience in power system studies or you have worked at a transmission system operator or power system consultancy previously
• You speak German and English fluently. Knowledge of the other language(s) (e.g. Arabic, French, Dutch) is an advantage.
• You have knowledge on phasor-type simulations, operational procedures for system operators, modelling and simulation of power system assets
• Knowledge in EMT modelling and simulation is desirable
• You can structure a project with clear tasks for the project team to address the client problem statement
• Experience with stakeholder management
• Experience in presenting and defending results to clients
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• You have experience with specific power system tools (e.g. PSS/E, DIgSILENT Power factory, ETAP, PSCAD, ATP, EMTP-RV…) and are able to learn efficiently new software tools
• You have experience with scripting in power system tools
• Capable of working autonomously as well as part of a wider team
• You can structure a project with clear tasks for the project team to address the client problem statement.
• You are dynamic, creative, interested by high level expertise and team work
• You are geographically mobile for short or mid-term missions all over the world.
