NES Fircroft is seeking a Project Engineer for Tower Project Calculations in the Grid Solutions department. This junior role targets candidates with up to 3 years of experience and a strong interest in detailed technical studies related to high‑voltage towers and structure modification.

You will study and design towers, perform calculations, guide designers, and support tendering, procurement, testing, and on-site execution in large HV projects.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or Physics.
• Experience in design of steel structures is advantageous.
• Familiarity with Eurocodes and relevant standards.

Responsabilités

The Project engineer for Tower Project Calculations

is responsible, within electrical infrastructure projects (380 kV, 220 kV, 150 kV, 110 kV, 70 kV, and 36 kV), for the engineering of the relevant high-voltage transmission lines and the towers/structures used for them.

This is a Junior role and looking for someone with up to 3 years experience

This role mainly includes the following responsibilities:

• Responsible for the study and design of new towers or modifications to existing structures.


• Performing specialized calculations, preparing and monitoring study schedules while taking into account project requirements and customer needs.


• Guiding designers in the development of calculation models, both for internal staff and external engineering/design firms.


• Preparing tender documentation and participating in procurement processes.


• Delivering and validating manufactured towers and structures at the supplier's facilities or in testing environments.


• Providing technical support for on-site execution and work preparation in collaboration with employees, project managers, suppliers, contractors, customers, and other stakeholders.


• Monitoring quality management processes, performing inspections, and reporting findings.


• Taking the necessary steps to optimize and implement calculation rules within the software tools used.

will work within the Grid Solutions department and will be involved in large projects related to the design of new high-voltage towers and the modification of existing structures.

Job Requirements

Education

Technical Skills & Experience

• Strong interest in detailed technical studies.


• Knowledge and experience in the design of steel structures.


• Experience with engineering software, 3D design tools, and finite element analysis (FEA) software.


• Familiarity with relevant standards and regulations, such as the Eurocodes.


• Strong sense of responsibility and excellent organizational skills.


• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.


• Experience in engineering and/or technical expertise activities is an asset.


• Knowledge of MS Project, VB.NET, VBA scripting, and Fortran is considered an advantage.

Language Skills

• Excellent command of either Dutch or French, with a basic knowledge of the other national language.
