Prothya Biosolutions Belgium is seeking a Process Technician - Maintenance to perform preventive and corrective maintenance across all systems, with emphasis on GMP compliance and safety. You will analyze root causes, execute shutdowns when required, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

You will work in a two-shift setup in Brussels, collaborate with Team Leaders, and participate in on-call duties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Electromechanics or equivalent by experience.
• Minimum 3 years in a pharmaceutical maintenance role.
• Knowledge of GMP, SOPs, SAP, SCADA, and related software.

Responsabilités

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on Prothya systems.
• Conduct root-cause analysis and implement improvements.
• Maintain safety and GMP standards and update documentation.
• Coordinate with Team Leaders and participate in shift handovers.
• Support on-call duty and weekend coverage when required.

Job title: Process Technician - Maintenance

Reports to : Supervisor Maintenance

Unit & Department : Maintenance

Purpose of the job

Perform standard maintenance operations (corrective and preventive) and conduct in-depth analysis of technical issues across all types of installations (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and/or programming). Operate autonomously on most equipment, in accordance with established guidelines and instructions (SOPs, procedures, SHE, etc.), to ensure the proper functioning of systems.

Key Activities

1. Perform Maintenance Operations

• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on all Prothya systems in a timely manner, including root cause analysis to prevent recurrence of issues.
• Complete maintenance-related checklists.
• Regularly communicate work progress to the Team Leader/Supervisor and report any delays.
• Report deviations or risks and propose corrective actions.
• Ensure equipment complies with safety and quality standards (GMP, etc.).
• Manage alarms through SCADA and GSM systems to anticipate system failures (calls and SMS alerts).
• Identify and implement continuous improvement actions to maintain an optimal operating environment.
• Actively participate in shift handovers and team meetings.
• Provide guidance and support to less experienced colleagues in resolving technical issues.
• Be willing to participate, on a voluntary basis, in the on-call duty system (24/7 team rotation).

2. Maintenance of Technical, Safety, and GMP Areas

• Perform regular inspection rounds (Area SPOC) and take any necessary actions.
• Maintain a safe and orderly work environment (5S, tool storage, removal of obstacles, etc.).
• Follow procedures for waste storage and disposal.
• Report any hygiene or safety deviations.
• Comply with safety regulations (wearing PPE, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO/TO), ATEX zones, securing electrical cabinets, handling chemicals, etc.).
• Contribute to the safety culture by proposing improvement initiatives.

3. Planning and Coordination

• Execute priorities in collaboration with Team Leaders and adapt to emergency situations.
• Communicate delays or unforeseen events in a timely manner and propose solutions to minimize impact.
• Ensure clear communication with colleagues, Team Leaders, and Supervisors to maintain continuity of operations.
• Provide support during weekends and public holidays according to the work schedule and applicable collective labour agreements.
• Remain flexible and willing to replace colleagues and/or swap shifts when required, on a voluntary basis.
• Prioritize tasks based on urgency and impact on production.
• Prepare interventions by identifying the required technical information, spare parts, and tools.
• Propose modifications or improvements to optimize equipment reliability.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting enhancements to maintenance scope and plans.
• Contribute to process optimization by identifying technical improvement opportunities.
• Report recurring issues and propose solutions that support continuous improvements in quality, effectiveness, and efficiency.

5. GMP Responsibilities

• Continuously maintain and update GMP knowledge through SOPs and e-learning modules (MasterControl).
• Ensure inventory-related issues are properly documented and report shortages or urgent requirements.
• Maintain accurate, real-time documentation in batch records, logbooks, and SAP.
• Report documentation compliance issues (procedures, GMP, SAP, logbooks) and ensure maintenance plans are updated accordingly.

Stakeholder Management

• Communicate spare part and resource requirements to anticipate future interventions.
• Produce detailed reports on critical interventions, including root cause analysis and recommendations.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanics, or equivalent through experience.

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role within the pharmaceutical industry.

Skills

• Knowledge of quality systems, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
• Proficiency in MS Office and other software applications (SAP, SCADA, etc.).
• Fluent in Dutch or French, with knowledge of technical English.
• Detail-oriented and quality-focused.
• Structured and responsive approach to work, with the ability to prioritize effectively.
• Flexible and willing to work weekends when required.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.
• Experience using diagnostic and measurement instruments.
• Advanced knowledge of mechanics, electricity, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
• Strong analytical mindset with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
