Job summary

Ghent University is inviting applications for a Post-doctoral assistant in the Department of Movement and Sports Sciences. The role centers on advancing academic research while contributing to Dutch-language teaching at Bachelor’s and Master’s levels and mentoring Master’s and doctoral students.

The appointment lasts two years with start date as early as 1 December 2026, offering a range of fringe benefits and opportunities for professional development within a diverse academic environment.

Qualifications

• You hold a doctoral degree (preferably in health, nutrition, movement/sport sciences or bioscience engineering). The degree requirement must be fulfilled at the start of your appointment.
• For diplomas awarded outside the EU, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted
• You have conducted research within the field of nutrition, metabolism, (exercise) physiology and/or movement sciences.
• You have distinguished yourself as a promising researcher in your doctorate
• You are profoundly interested in teaching and coaching students in the Bachelor’s, Master’s and/or Advanced Master’s programmes
• You may present relevant scientific publications in (inter)national peer-reviewed journals that are widely disseminated

Responsibilities

• Approximately 70% of your assignment will be spent on academic research.
• You will assist in teaching activities in Dutch at the Bachelor’s or Master’s level.
• You will counsel Master’s students in their exercises, work placement and Master’s dissertation
• You will counsel doctoral students
