Ghent University seeks a post-doctoral assistant in the Department of Linguistics to advance research in linguistics and publish in international journals. The appointee will collaborate with department groups, present regularly at conferences, and contribute to teaching and outreach as required.

The position runs for three years with a bench fee to support research activities and a start date around 2027. The candidate should have a doctoral degree in linguistics and a strong publication record.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in linguistics or equivalent by appointment date.
• At least one year of postdoctoral experience.
• Eligible to apply for ERC Starting Grant in 2027–2029 calls.
• Strong international publication record and invited lectures.
• Specialization in linguistics with opportunities for collaboration.
• Research with innovative methods and broad applicability.

Responsabilités

• Dedicate at least 70% of time to linguistic research and publish results.
• Collaborate with one or more department research groups.
• Offer an annual workshop sharing methodological expertise.
• Prepare ERC Starting Grant application during the 3-year mandate.
• Contribute to teaching and outreach if needed.
