Ghent University invites applications for a Recognised Researcher (R2) in the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture. The role focuses on research in applications of speech recognition and paralinguistics, with teaching obligations at Bachelor’s or Master’s level and supervision of Master’s and Doctoral students.

The successful candidate will also help manage projects and pursue new funding opportunities, joining a diverse team within the Electronics and Information Systems department.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent required.
• Extensive research in speech and audio processing, with focus on automatic speech recognition and paralinguistics.
• Strong publication record in national and international peer‑reviewed journals.
• Interest in supervising students across Bachelor/Master/Advanced Master programmes.

Responsabilités

• Spend at least 70% of time on academic research focused on speech recognition and paralinguistics.
• Assist in teaching activities at Bachelor's or Master's level; Dutch knowledge is a plus.
• Mentor Master’s students during exercises, placements and dissertations.
• Counsel doctoral students and contribute to project management and new proposals.
