Job summary

VIB, in collaboration with the UAntwerp Center for Molecular Neurology, invites a postdoctoral scientist to study regulatory mechanisms governing alternative transcription start/termination site usage in dementia. The role combines computational biology, systems biology, and genomics to build isoform-specific regulatory maps of the human brain in health and disease.

Qualifications

• PhD in computational biology, systems biology, bioinformatics or related fields.
• Hybrid background with computational experience in molecular biology or functional genomics.
• Solid knowledge of single-cell data analysis and multimodal data integration.
• Solid knowledge of gene regulatory mechanisms.
• Solid knowledge of 3D chromatin organization.
• Proficient in R and/or Python.
• Excellent English communication and writing skills.
• Strong academic record.
• Experience with 3D chromatin data analysis is a plus.
• Experience with proteomics data is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build isoform-specific regulatory atlas for the human brain in health and disease.
• Identify causal regulatory elements and transcription factors for ATSS/ATTS in disease.
• Identify putative disease isoforms with a genetic underpinning in dementia.
