Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Brussels is offering a full-time PhD position focused on developing first-time-right design tools for multi-optics imaging systems. The project is embedded in the HARMONY_SBO program and conducted within the Brussels Photonics research group, under the Faculty of Engineering.

You will join the Brussels Humanities, Sciences & Engineering Campus (Elsene) and collaborate with optical engineers, system engineers and AI researchers.

Qualifications

• Knowledge about photonics and optical design is required.
• Strong programming skills; Python or similar languages.
• Excellent English communication; CEFR level C1.
• Ability to work independently and in an interdisciplinary team.
• Willingness to travel within Europe and possibly worldwide.
• Meet VUB residence requirements and permit conditions.

Responsabilités

• Develop first-time-right design tools for multi-optics imaging systems.
• Collaborate with researchers in AI-based image and video processing pipelines.
• Validate novel systems on generic product inspection and navigation use cases.
• Contribute to a 48-month HARMONY_SBO project within Brussels Photonics at VUB.
