Job summary

KU Leuven seeks a First Stage Researcher (R1) to conduct research leading to a PhD within the FitMA team and the De Wulf-Mansion Centre for Ancient, Medieval and Renaissance Philosophy. The role includes organizing project activities such as team meetings, presentations, and conferences.

The candidate should hold a Master’s degree with excellent results, meet PhD admission requirements, possess excellent Latin, and be prepared to acquire medieval philosophy background within the first year.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Philosophy, Arts, or another relevant subject with excellent results.
• Meets admission requirements of the PhD programme at the Institute of Philosophy.
• Excellent knowledge of Latin.
• Prepared to acquire a deeper background in medieval philosophy.
• Aware that a working knowledge of Latin medieval palaeography and (digital) edition methods will have to be acquired within the first year of the project.
• Ready to proactively contribute to the project as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research leading to the PhD as part of the FitMA team.
• Participate in organisation of team meetings, presentations, and conferences.
• Contribute to the research activities of the De Wulf-M mansion Centre for Ancient, Medieval and Renaissance Philosophy, where the project is embedded.
