Job summary

Robert Half is recruiting a Payment Infrastructure & Operations Expert (M/V/X) in Antwerp. You will monitor end-to-end payment flows and oversee daily processing, owning the performance of the core banking and payments ecosystem.

You will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to implement improvements, document controls, and support regulatory requirements. The role offers a hybrid model with ~3 days per week in the Antwerp office and a competitive package based on

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in finance, economics, business engineering, IT, statistics or related field.
• Experience in payments, banking operations, treasury, fintech, or transaction-driven environment.
• Strong affinity with payment processes, operational controls and system-driven operations.
• Operational mindset with analytical thinking and hands-on approach.
• Ownership of outcomes and oversight of the full payment lifecycle.
• Calm and solution-oriented under pressure to maintain reliability and continuity.
• Continuous improvement of processes, controls and ways of working.
• Collaborative team player with internal/external stakeholders.
• Confident communication in Dutch and English.

Responsibilities

• Monitor end-to-end payment flows and oversee daily payment processing.
• Own operational performance of core banking and payments ecosystem; SME for processes, systems, controls.
• Investigate and resolve operational issues and complex exceptions using data analysis.
• Identify and implement structural improvements for reliability, efficiency and scalability.

The scope of responsibilities for this job include:

• You ensure a stable and efficient payment operation by monitoring end-to-end payment flows and overseeing daily payment processing.
• You take ownership of the operational performance of the core banking and payments ecosystem and act as a subject matter expert for payment processes, systems, and controls.
• You investigate and resolve operational issues and complex exceptions by analyzing transaction data, reconciliations, payment statuses, and system information.
• You identify and implement structural improvements that enhance reliability, efficiency, and scalability across the payment landscape.
• You optimize, standardize, and document processes, controls, and ways of working to support operational excellence and reduce risk.
• You support business growth and change initiatives through impact assessments, testing activities, process enhancements, and system releases.
• You help maintain a controlled, resilient, and compliant operating environment by supporting internal controls, reporting, business continuity activities, and regulatory requirements

The requested qualifications for this job as Payment Infrastructure & Operations Expert (M/V/X) include:

• You hold a bachelor's or master's degree in finance, Economics, Business Engineering, Information Technology, Statistics, or a related field, or you bring equivalent experience.
• You have experience in payments, banking operations, treasury, fintech, or another transaction-driven environment.
• You have a strong affinity with payment processes, operational controls, and system-driven operations, while experience with core banking platforms, payment systems, incident management, process improvement, or testing is a strong asset.
• You combine a strong operational mindset with analytical thinking and a hands-on, structured approach.
• You enjoy solving complex operational challenges, take ownership of outcomes, and keep oversight of the full payment lifecycle.
• You stay calm and solution-oriented in environments where reliability, accuracy, and continuity are critical, even when facing incidents, exceptions, or tight deadlines.
• You continuously look for opportunities to improve processes, controls, and ways of working.
• You are a collaborative team player who builds strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
