skeyes is seeking a Navaids System Specialist to maintain and optimize navigation aids essential for aviation safety. You will ensure proper operation of landing systems and radio beacons, participate in the development of new navigation solutions, and stay compliant with ISO standards and aviation regulations.

You will attend internal trainings, work in shifts to keep systems up 24/7, and train field staff to share knowledge across the team. Fluency in English and Dutch or French is required.

Qualifications

• Graduate/bachelor's degree in electronics or aerospace engineering, or similar training/work experience.
• In-depth knowledge of RF techniques, computer networks and digital and analogue electronics.
• Fluent English and good Dutch or French with basic knowledge of the other language.
• At least a category B driving licence to travel to intervention sites.
• Team player but able to work independently when needed.
• Flexibility, stress-resistance and eagerness to learn for adapting to new technologies.
• Reliability, initiative and good organisation skills.

Responsabilités

We are looking for an enthusiastic Navaids System Specialist to join the team at skeyes, the leading player in aviation. Safety is key for us, and we continuously strive for the highest standards to keep aviation safe and efficient.

As a Navaids System Specialist at skeyes, you will be responsible for maintaining navigation aids (Navaids), which are essential to aviation. NAVAIDS are systems that help pilots navigate aircraft; they are installed on the ground and enable pilots to navigate and land without visual references. Such aids, radio beacons and Instrument Landing Systems are essential to the safety and efficiency of air traffic throughout Belgium. Performance Based Navigation (PBN) using satellite navigation systems (GNSS including GPS, GALILEO, etc.) is also part of the Navigation story.

What does a Navaids system specialist do at skeyes?

• analysing problems and suggesting improvements or solutions are an important part of the job;
• you will follow up on the preventive and corrective maintenance of the various pieces of equipment such as landing systems, radio beacons, etc. to ensure their proper functioning, using professional measuring equipment, a measuring truck (with trailer) and a measuring drone. Keeping track of this work in maintenance logs and technical reports is essential;
• a system specialist contributes to the development, installation and testing of new systems. It is also important to ensure that navigation systems are compliant with ISO standards and national and international regulations;
• you will maintain professional competence by attending internal training courses (to become a certified team member) and participate in a shift working regime to be available after normal working hours to keep the systems operational 24/7;
• training employees in the field is also a crucial task to promote knowledge and skills within the team.

Candidate profile

What makes you the perfect Navaids system specialist?

• you have a graduate/bachelor's degree in electronics or aerospace engineering, or similar training/work experience;
• you have in-depth knowledge of radio frequency (RF) techniques, computer networks and digital and analogue electronics;
• you communicate fluently in English and also express yourself excellently in Dutch or French with a solid basic knowledge of the other language;
• you have at least a category B driving licence to be able to travel to intervention sites;
• you are a team player, but you are also able to work independently and autonomously when the situation requires it;
• flexibility, stress-resistance and eagerness to learn are essential for adapting to new technologies and unforeseen situations;
• reliability, sense of initiative, and good organisation skills are crucial to perform this job efficiently and professionally.
