Job summary

Engibex in Belgium seeks a senior mechanical/mechatronics engineer to lead the design and integration of robotic solutions for heavy industry applications. You will define equipment layouts, create 3D models, manufacturing drawings, and sensor selections, while collaborating across teams to ensure safe, ergonomic, and efficient automation systems.

Responsibilities include validating diagrams, participating in FMEA, supervising layout tests, and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in mechanical engineering required.
• Experience in robotics and mechatronics preferred.
• SolidWorks knowledge for design, simulation and drawing.
• PDMLink knowledge required.
• Kuka software for simulation and Kuka load.
• Pneumatic and hydraulic diagrams knowledge.
• Excellent practical, hands-on capabilities.
• Strong safety focus and problem solving.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Define and validate equipment location and interaction.
• Design installation drawings and create detailed 3D models.
• Define energy supply and interaction with operators (ergonomics, safety).
• Design mechanical solutions for direct or indirect robotic products.
• Create detailed concepts with 3D models and manufacturing drawings.
• Review models and drawings from other teams.
• Select and define required sensors.
• Define and design media layouts: hydraulic, air and other media.
• Coordinate robot movement with simulation software (Kuka).
• Participate in FMEA with the team.
• Support shop tests with layout drawings and test plans and post-test reporting.
• Provide support to manufacturers.
• Prepare calculation notes, and maintenance/user manuals per equipment.
• Create control sheets per equipment, and maintenance sheets.
• Mentor newly hired mechanical engineers; support other software (Creo, Kuka Sim, AutoCAD).
