Qualifications

• Master's degree in Law (Belgian or European university preferred).
• Eligibility for IBJ/IJE registration is mandatory.
• 5 years of relevant experience in legal roles is mandatory.
• English – full professional proficiency (written and spoken) mandatory.
• French – native or near-native proficiency mandatory.

Responsabilités

• Provide legal advice to company divisions and business units.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements and legal documents (primarily in English and French).
• Support corporate, commercial, operational, and regulatory legal matters.
• Liaise with external and internal legal counsel across jurisdictions.
• Support contract management and legal documentation processes.
• Participate in cross-functional and international projects.
• Responsible for corporate secretarial matters for the Group's Belgian entities.
• Monitor and interpret regulatory developments and ensure policies are updated.
• Develop, implement, and maintain compliance frameworks compliant with local and international regulations.
• Ensure timely regulatory filings and disclosures.
• Liaise with management, regulatory authorities, auditors, and external stakeholders.
• Support implementation of regulatory frameworks including GDPR, NIS2, aviation regulations.

Job Description

Challenge Airlines (BE) S.A. is an airline based in Liege Airport (LGG) with a Belgian AOC. The airline operates daily scheduled cargo flights and charter services carrying nonstandard goods and general cargo internationally. Challenge Airlines (BE) is part of a Global airline group that carries approximately 400,000 tons of cargo annually. About us

We are seeking a proactive, commercially oriented Legal Officer to join our Group Legal Department. This role combines legal advisory, compliance oversight, cargo claims management, and commercial aviation support responsibilities. The Legal Officer will support the Group’s global operations, with a particular focus on Belgium and EU regulatory matters, while working closely with internal stakeholders and external advisors across multiple jurisdictions. The role will also include advising on commercial aviation matters and general commercial engagements, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements, with particular emphasis on Belgian and European law. In addition, the Legal Officer will be responsible for supporting and managing corporate secretarial matters for the Group’s Belgian entities, including corporate governance, board and shareholder documentation, and regulatory filings. The role also includes responsibility for ensuring the organization adheres to regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry best practices across all jurisdictions in which it operates. This includes developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance programs, and providing guidance to business units to mitigate compliance risks.

• Liaise with management, regulatory authorities, auditors, and external stakeholders.
• Support implementation of regulatory frameworks including GDPR, NIS2, aviation regulations, and other applicable standards.
• Manage cargo-related claims and disputes, including liability assessments and settlement negotiations.

Education

• Masterr’s degree in Law (Belgian or European university preferred) – Mandatory
• Eligibility for IBJ/IJE registration – Mandatory

Experience

• 5 years of relevant experience in legal roles – Mandatory
• Experience in a multinational or regulated industry (aviation, logistics, transport, or similar) – Advantage
• Experience managing claims or disputes – Advantage
• Additional degree in business, finance, or economics – Advantage
• English – Full professional proficiency (written and spoken) – Mandatory
• French – Native or near-native proficiency – Mandatory
