CINB-IRBN, a Brussels-based division of the Belgian Federation of Notaries (Fednot) and CNK, seeks a Legal Advisor - Regulatory Affairs to monitor EU and international regulatory files and support advocacy vis‑à‑vis European bodies. The role collaborates within the Fednot/CNK structure and engages with CNUE and other notarial federations.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in law or equivalent with focus on European law is required.
• At least initial experience in a similar function is expected.
• Fluent in French or Dutch with excellent knowledge of the other language and English.

The International Council of the Belgian Notariat (CINB-IRBN) is a division of the Belgian Federation of Notaries (Fednot) and the National Chamber of Notaries (CNK). We contribute to the promotion and defence of the interests of the civil law notary profession towards European and International Institutions. The offices are located in the "Maison des Notaires'" in the centre of Brussels, close to the central station and the Grand Place.

We are looking for a Legal Advisor - Regulatory Affairs to join our small, Brussels-based team, where you will operate in the bigger Fednot/CNK structure. You will monitor, analyse, and follow up on EU and international legislative and regulatory files that affect the notarial profession, and support CINB-IRBN's advocacy work vis‑à‑vis the European institutions, the Council of the Notariats of the European Union (CNUE), Belgian and foreign notarial federations and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:

• Monitor and analyse EU and international legislative and political developments with an importance for the notarial profession
• Interact with federations of notaries in various countries that work on the same issues
• Formulate strategic advice and positions that you defend amongst others before the relevant units of the European Institutions and within the CNUE
• Prepare and take part in meetings, seminars and other events with relevant units of the European Institutions or foreign notarial institutions, either at national level or in Europe
• Communicate about the progress of the files and projects to the internal structures and Belgian notaries, via internal meetings, presentations, possible publications in notarial magazines, etc.

Competences:

• Master's degree in law with a specialisation in European law, or an equivalent level reached through a diploma in another relevant field (for example European Studies) with a genuine affinity for law
• You have at least initial experience in a similar function
• Experience in one or more of the following legal fields, and be aware you will be working on more than one of them:
• European company law/AML
• European family law/conflict of laws
• European consumer/contract law
• Internal market and competition law
• You are fluent in either French or Dutch with an excellent knowledge of the other language and English, both spoken and written (knowledge of any other European languages is an asset)
• You enjoy working in a small team but take ownership of your own files
• Confident with MS Office
