Job summary

Next Engineering is seeking a lead Java Developer to drive robust Java-based solutions in a hybrid setup with two in-office days weekly. You will mentor junior/mid-level developers, lead feature development, and integrate automated testing into CI/CD while ensuring SOLID, secure code and up-to-date documentation.

Fluency in English is required; Dutch or French is a plus. Expect 24/7 on-call duty after training and collaborating across teams within an on-premise environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Java 6/8, JavaFX and Swing is mandatory.
• Experience working in a Scrum environment.
• Experience with LeSS, or with multiple teams working from a single backlog, is a strong plus.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration and initiative skills.
• Ability to integrate easily into an existing team.
• Good command of English is mandatory, with fluency in either Dutch or French.
• Willingness to participate in 24/7 on-call duty after appropriate training.

Responsibilities

• Translate functional requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Develop new features and maintain, optimise and evolve existing Java applications.
• Analyse and resolve technical issues in collaboration with other teams.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Ensure compliance with clean code, SOLID principles and security best practices.
• Keep technical documentation and best practices up to date.
• Support software deployment and release management in an on-premise environment.
• Coach junior and mid-level developers and contribute to knowledge sharing.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call duty after appropriate training.
