Ghent University’s Photonics Research Group seeks a Temporary Scientific Staff Member to design and simulate III‑V semiconductor lasers for integration with silicon photonics. You will define laser structures and optimize performance for a three-month project, collaborating with fabrication and research teams.
The position requires a Master’s degree or PhD in photonics or related field and strong experience in numerical modelling with tools such as Lumerical or COMSOL.

The Photonics Research Group of the Department of Information Technology (INTEC) develops integrated photonic components and circuits for communications, sensing and other advanced applications. For a short-term research project, we are looking for a laser designer who will develop a concrete laser design and transfer it to the research and fabrication team over a three-month period.
