Laboratory Technician II, Genomics Services

We are actively looking for a motivated and experienced Laboratory Technician II to join our Genomics Unit. In this role, you will play a crucial part in our cutting-edge laboratory, performing intricate molecular testing. Experience with Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) is a strong plus. Summary

You will be partly responsible for carrying out molecular laboratory analyses within our Genomics Unit. In this lab, in addition to DNA and/or RNA extractions, you will also perform molecular analyses using the latest technologies.

Responsibilities

• Perform specialized molecular analyses of varying complexity on different platforms
• Control the operation of analysis equipment and report malfunctions
• Monitor lab processes and record data in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
• Prepare analyses, equipment, and samples according to testing requirements
• Document the laboratory work performed
• Assist with data interpretation
• Write operating procedures

Education

• Professional bachelor's degree in Medical, Pharmaceutical, or Biomedical Laboratory Technology, or Biochemistry

Main Requirements

• At least 5 years of relevant experience in a molecular laboratory
• Prior experience in with NGS is a plus
• Able to use a computer (Word, Excel) and a database, or willing to learn
• Flexible, communicative, and enjoys working in a team
• Works within a quality system (ISO 15189:2012), requiring accuracy and the ability to work in a planned and documented manner
• Able to express ideas fluently, both orally and in writing, in Dutch and English
• Strong reporting skills for processing results
• Flexible and enthusiastic working attitude, with decisiveness
• Mature, taking initiatives
• Facilitate process improvement and implementation
