Ernst & Young in Diegem is seeking Junior Consultants to join our Global Trade team. You will integrate customs advisory and cross-border trade solutions, supporting clients with compliance and cost optimization.

The role blends a law/economics background, exposure to tax and legal compliance, and opportunities to work with multinational clients across industries. Travel may be required. Start date in September 2027.

Qualifications

• Master degree in Law / Applied Economics / Commercial Engineering.
• Interest in indirect taxes (VAT and environmental taxes).
• Fluent in English and Dutch; French a plus.
• Client and market focus with hands-on attitude.
• Team player with strong communication and entrepreneurial mindset.
• Willing to start in September 2027.
• Data analytics and IT skills are a plus.

Responsabilités

• Assist and advise clients on customs, import & export matters.

We are looking for Junior Consultants to join our Global Trade team in Diegem. We integrate customs advisory, global trade management systems and cross-border trade solutions. We offer support and advice on customs, international trade policy & compliance, excise and energy taxation, and sustainability topics.

Our focus is on both tax & legal compliance as well as on cost reduction strategies but also seeking operational efficiencies and improving working capital. Our clients are situated in all industries, public administrations and non-profit organizations.

In our team we have people with a legal and/or an economic background; also commercial engineers considering the nature of our work, bringing together supply chain, operational, tax and financial experience.

Your Key Responsibilities

You will:

• Assist and advise clients regarding customs, import & export matters;
• Help clients to operate more effectively in moving goods around the world by developing and implementing strategies to manage duty cost by utilizing free trade agreements, special programs, and transactional structuring;
• Work project based for large corporations as well as SME's, possibly including travel, with a focus on compliance but also achieving cost effectiveness and efficiencies;
• Be responsible for handling a varied portfolio of client assignments, participating in client meetings, and developing your relationships with your clients;
• Be integrated within a young and dynamic department, building up a network of relationships with colleagues in your office and other countries;
• Leverage technology and AI-enabled tools to support research, analyze data, increase efficiency, and deliver innovative solutions to clients.

Your Profile

• You will obtain a Master degree in Law / Applied Economics / Commercial Engineering;
• You are interested in indirect taxes, such as VAT, environmental taxes, local/regional taxes, etc.
• You are able to communicate fluently in English and Dutch, knowledge of French or any other European language is a clear asset.
• You are client and market focused with a hands-on attitude.
• You are a team player with excellent communication skills, you have the mindset of an entrepreneur.
• You are a motivated learner, eager to explore new challenges.
• You have an open, enthusiastic and flexible mindset, looking for opportunities to exceed expectations and take ownership of projects assigned to you.
• Data analytics, IT skills are a plus.
• You have a strong affinity with AI and genuine interest in applying new AI trends in a professional context.
• You are able to start in September 2027.
