Vivid Resourcing is seeking a Network Engineer for Brussels on a freelance contract of 12 months or more. You will maintain, support, and improve enterprise network infrastructure within a complex environment.

Responsibilities include configuring Cisco routing and switching, Fortinet firewalls, and VMware networking, with a focus on high availability and security, plus automation with Ansible.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Network Engineer in enterprise environments.
• Strong knowledge of Cisco routing and switching.
• Hands-on Fortinet firewall experience.
• Experience supporting VMware environments.
• Fluent in English and Dutch (mandatory).

About the Client

Our client is a leading organisation within the industrial manufacturing sector, operating a large-scale, enterprise IT environment across multiple locations. They are looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join their infrastructure team on a long-term contract.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, supporting, and improving the client's network infrastructure. You will work within a complex enterprise environment, ensuring high availability, security, and performance across the network landscape while contributing to infrastructure automation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructure.
• Configure and support Cisco routing and switching environments.
• Manage and optimise Fortinet firewall solutions.
• Support VMware networking within virtualised environments.
• Monitor network performance and proactively resolve incidents.
• Assist with infrastructure automation using Ansible.
• Work closely with infrastructure and security teams to deliver network improvements.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation.

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience as a Network Engineer within enterprise environments.
• Strong knowledge of Cisco routing and switching technologies.
• Hands‑on experience with Fortinet firewalls.
• Experience supporting VMware environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Fluent in both English and Dutch (mandatory).
