Globachem is seeking a Patent/IP Specialist in Belgium to screen patents, advise on freedom-to-operate, and support R&D from an IP perspective. You will collaborate with external patent attorneys to file and defend applications and monitor patent law developments.

The role requires a Master’s in biochemistry/chemistry, experience in chemistry/biology patents, and fluent English. You will work autonomously, yet integrate with R&D, Product Concepts and Legal teams.

Competenze

• Master’s degree in biochemistry or chemistry or equivalent.
• At least first experience in patents within chemistry and/or biology.
• Knowledge of international IP laws and IP commercialization.
• Well-versed in searching and using patent databases.
• Fluent in English; clear, concise communication with stakeholders.
• Languages beyond English are a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Growth mindset, willingness to learn and develop.
• Able to work autonomously and value teamwork.
• Well organized and able to handle several dossiers.

Mansioni

• Screen existing patents and advise on freedom-to-operate versus third-party rights.
• Pro-actively support R&D with IP perspectives.
• Screen internal R&D results to protect knowledge underpinning products and processes.
• Support IP colleagues with external patent attorneys to file and defend patent applications.
• Assist in challenging the validity of third-party patent rights.
• Keep up-to-date with evolutions in patent law and support implementation.
• Collaborate with IP colleagues and other departments on IP-related matters.
