Your resume and cover letter, tailored to exactly what they’re hiring for.
Imec is offering a Master internship to investigate ionic transport phenomena in perovskite thin-film devices. You will fabricate devices in state-of-the-art facilities, perform electrical and optical measurements, and analyze how external stimuli tailor dynamic responses.
The position aims to develop hands-on cleanroom skills and deepen understanding of material dynamics in optoelectronic devices within an international research setting.
/ Ionic Transport and Dynamic Processes in Perovskite Thin-Film Devices
Can external stimuli control ionic processes in next-generation perovskite electronic and optoelectronic systems?
Metal halide perovskites have emerged as aversatile semiconductor platform for applications including photovoltaics,light-emitting diodes, photodetectors, and electronic devices. Beyond theirexcellent optoelectronic properties, these materials exhibit significant ionicmobility, leading to a rich set of dynamic phenomena such as transientelectrical responses, memory effects, and non-equilibrium transport processes. While these effects are often associated with performance limitations, theyalso provide exciting opportunities to engineer novel device functionalitiesand adaptive material systems.
In this project, you will investigate ionictransport phenomena in perovskite thin-film devices and explore how theseprocesses can be influenced through different external stimuli. Devicefabrication will be carried out using imec's state-of-the-art researchinfrastructure, including microfabrication facilities and dedicated thin-filmmaterials laboratories. You will gain hands-on experience in cleanroomprocessing techniques such as photolithography, thin-film deposition, encapsulation, and device integration.
Following fabrication, the devices will becharacterized using a broad range of electrical and optical measurementtechniques, including current-voltage measurements, transient electricalcharacterization, and time-dependent device analysis. The project will focus onunderstanding how ionic motion affects device behavior and how differentoperating conditions can be used to tailor dynamic responses in perovskite systems. Particular attention will be devoted to identifying relationshipsbetween material properties, device architecture, and ionic transport dynamics.
You will work within a multidisciplinaryteam consisting of PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, senior researchers, and professors active in the fields of optoelectronics, semiconductor devices, and advanced materials. The project provides an excellent opportunity toacquire practical cleanroom experience, develop advanced experimental skills, and gain exposure to cutting-edge research conducted in an internationalresearch environment. The student is expected to be self-motivated, eager tolearn new experimental techniques, and comfortable working in a collaborativeresearch environment. A background in semiconductor devices, electronics, materials science, physics, or photonics is advantageous.
