EY in Brussels is offering an internship with the payroll operations team. You will actively contribute to monthly payroll preparation, support client inquiries, and learn payroll processes under senior guidance.

You are a Bachelor’s or Master’s student in a related field, with interest in payroll, and good Dutch/English skills. Flexible hours and home-based options are available, with on-site offices in Brussels.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resources, Economics, Legal Practice, Accountancy or a related field.
• Interest in payroll and eagerness to gain practical experience in a global firm.
• Good knowledge of Dutch and English; French is a plus.

The payroll operate team provides full operational support for either a specific executive group or the whole organization. Our reliable, confidential services include salary payment preparation, tax and social security compliance, payroll accounting and reporting, data entry checking and controls and monthly data processing.

Industries: You will not focus on a specific sector, you may work for clients active in the following sectors: Transport, logistics, manufacturing, oil & gas, pharma, retail, service providers, etc.

During Your Internship, You Will Learn To

• Support the preparation and execution of monthly payrolls
• Work efficiently with Excel and payroll tools
• Assist in answering client payroll‑related questions
• Understand the difference between regular and shadow payrolls
• Support the onboarding of new payroll clients
• Collaborate closely with experienced payroll consultants
• Learn by doing, with continuous guidance and feedback

Your Key Responsibilities

• Support the team in delivering Belgian payroll services for international clients
• Assist in ensuring accurate and timely monthly payroll processing
• Develop hands‑on experience with payroll software
• Prepare day‑to‑day payroll deliverables under supervision
• Learn to work in line with legal deadlines and quality standards
• Report to and be coached by a Senior Consultant or Payroll Manager

Who We Are Looking For

• You are currently a Bachelor’s or Master’s student in Human Resources, Economics, Legal Practice, Accountancy or a related field
• You have an interest in payroll and are eager to gain practical experience
• You have a good knowledge of Dutch and English (French is a plus)
• You are motivated, accurate and eager to learn
• You enjoy working in a team and in an international environment
• You have a hands‑on and proactive mindset
• You are available to start your internship in February/March 2027
