A Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) is a combination of different technologies: SD-WAN, SWG, CASB, NGFW and ZTNA
These technologies are built upon cloud resources, making it possible for geographically widespread companies and users worldwide to connect with ease. Companies also gain more control and visibility of their internet traffic and traffic between clients and datacenter resources.
The internship assignment allows the student to learn all the terms and acronyms. The student will also research and compare various options between competing leaders of the market.
In the 2nd phase, the student will conduct a lab in which they will configure such a SASE environment. The student will gain experience with the different layers: authentication using SAML and IDP, connecting a SASE device in a network, working with a SASE software client, deep packet inspection using TLS Decryption, …
The student will use API to implement and monitor these features to ensure ease of proactive care.
In the final phase of the internship assignment, the student will research AI, how it works, and how it may pose a risk to this new and diverse work setting. This includes understanding how AI may be misused — whether through external threats such as AI-driven phishing or internal risks like unsanctioned use of generative AI tools ("shadow AI"). They will research and implement how to protect and govern the vast landscape of existing and upcoming AI through security features such as Application Control, DLP and CASB, with the goal of securing data, maintaining compliance, and safeguarding both company assets and employee privacy.
