Job Description
Internal Sales Strategy & Transformation Expert
The role
We are looking for an Internal Sales Strategy & Transformation Expert to help shape the future of our commercial organisation in Belgium.
This is a high-impact role at the intersection of Sales Strategy, Commercial Excellence, Customer Operations, Data and Digital Transformation.
You will work with senior commercial stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve how our sales organisation operates — from planning and pricing to customer management, processes, tools and performance management.
Your role is not simply to manage existing processes. You will challenge the way things are done, identify opportunities for change and turn strategic ideas into practical solutions that work at scale.
You will operate across the organisation, connecting Sales with Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain, Customer Service, IT and other functions to ensure that commercial initiatives are translated into measurable business impact.
What you will do
Shape the sales transformation agenda
- Support the development and execution of the commercial transformation roadmap for the Belgian business.
- Identify opportunities to improve sales effectiveness, productivity and customer value creation.
- Analyse how sales teams operate today and identify opportunities to simplify, standardise, automate and improve ways of working.
- Turn business challenges into clearly defined transformation initiatives, with objectives, priorities, milestones and expected benefits.
- Build business cases and recommendations for new approaches, processes, tools and capabilities.
- Support senior leadership in translating strategic priorities into concrete commercial initiatives.
- Monitor progress and ensure transformation initiatives deliver the intended business outcomes.
- Review and improve key commercial processes across the sales organisation.
- Identify opportunities to improve planning, forecasting, pricing, customer segmentation, promotional effectiveness and sales performance.
- Develop and implement frameworks, standards and best practices that enable sales teams to work more effectively.
- Bring greater consistency and transparency to commercial decision-making.
- Establish practical KPIs and performance measures to track the effectiveness of sales initiatives.
- Use data and business insight to challenge assumptions and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Share successful approaches across teams and markets to accelerate organisational learning.
Lead cross-functional projects
- Lead strategic and operational projects involving multiple functions and stakeholders.
- Work closely with Sales, Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain, Customer Service, IT and Data teams.
- Facilitate workshops to understand business needs, define solutions and build stakeholder alignment.
- Translate complex business requirements into clear processes, systems and ways of working.
- Coordinate internal and external partners where specialist expertise is required.
- Ensure projects move from concept through implementation and adoption rather than stopping at recommendation stage.
- Improve the availability, quality and usability of commercial information.
- Work with data and technology teams to develop better reporting, dashboards and analytical tools.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting and administrative activities.
- Create clear management information that helps commercial leaders make better decisions.
- Use data to identify trends, performance gaps, customer opportunities and areas requiring intervention.
- Promote a more fact-based and forward-looking approach to sales management.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of pricing and commercial policies.
- Analyse pricing structures, customer profitability and commercial performance.
- Support the evaluation of commercial scenarios and their financial impact.
- Work with Finance and Sales to improve the quality and consistency of commercial decisions.
- Challenge existing practices and identify opportunities to create greater value while maintaining customer competitiveness.
Improve the customer operating model
- Identify opportunities to make interactions between the business and its customers simpler, faster and more effective.
- Review customer-facing and internal processes to eliminate unnecessary complexity.
- Support the development of digital and self-service capabilities.
- Analyse customer service and sales processes to identify opportunities for automation and improved customer experience.
- Ensure that operational improvements remain aligned with the broader commercial strategy.
Drive adoption and change
- Act as a catalyst for change across the commercial organisation.
- Build commitment among stakeholders and help teams understand the business case for change.
- Develop communication and implementation approaches that support successful adoption.
- Anticipate resistance and address practical barriers to implementation.
- Track adoption and business impact after implementation and identify further opportunities for improvement.
- Establish a culture of continuous improvement rather than one-off project delivery.
What we are looking for
We are looking for someone who combines commercial understanding, strategic thinking and strong execution skills.
You are comfortable moving between high-level strategy and operational detail, and you enjoy turning ambiguous business problems into structured solutions.
You bring:
- A Master's degree in business, economics, engineering, management or a comparable discipline.
- Several years of experience in Sales Strategy, Commercial Excellence, Sales Operations, Business Transformation, Consulting or a related field.
- Experience working within a complex, international organisation, ideally within FMCG, consumer goods, retail or another commercially driven environment.
- A strong understanding of how sales organisations operate and how commercial performance can be improved.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional projects from problem definition through to implementation.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn large amounts of information into clear conclusions and recommendations.
- Commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to understand the impact of decisions on revenue, margin, cost and customer value.
- Experience working with CRM, ERP, BI or other commercial technology platforms.
- A strong interest in digitalisation, automation and the practical application of data and technology to improve business performance.
- Excellent stakeholder-management skills and the ability to influence without relying on formal authority.
- The confidence to challenge senior stakeholders constructively and bring an independent perspective.
- Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to make complex subjects simple and compelling.
- A pragmatic approach: you are able to define the ideal future state while understanding what is realistically achievable within a business.
- Strong project management and prioritisation skills.
- A high level of initiative, ownership and resilience.
You are fluent in Dutch and English. Professional proficiency in French is highly valued given the Belgian market and the range of stakeholders you will work with.
