Description du poste

Why we exist

Supplementary pension in Belgium comes with a promise: if something happens to you, your family is protected, your income continues, your premiums are covered. That promise lives or dies on the quality of the risk covers behind it.

That’s where WARREN comes in. We’re pioneering Wealth Enablement: a new category that makes pension, benefits and investing modern, transparent, and genuinely valued. Our Warren Pension Fund OFP is the engine, a first-of-its-kind licensed pension fund in Belgium, and it offers members a suite of supplementary risk covers: life insurance, guaranteed income protection, and premium waiver.

Today those covers are growing in membership and in complexity. We need someone who can own the entire insurance operation end-to-end: define the products, manage the reinsurer and TPA relationships, handle the actuarial work, and make sure every claim is settled with the care it deserves. This is a rare mandate. Nowhere else in Belgium does it exist quite like this.

What you’ll own

You will be Warren’s sole owner of the insurance and actuarial domain within the pension fund. That means full responsibility from product design through to claims: not a slice of it, all of it.

You’ll define how our risk covers are structured, priced and reserved. You’ll manage the relationships with our reinsurer and third-party administrator. You’ll support members and employers when a claim arises. And you’ll make sure the Board always has the actuarial clarity it needs to govern with confidence.

This role sits at the intersection of actuarial rigour, operational ownership, and human impact. The modelling matters. But so does picking up the phone when a family is waiting for an answer.

The day to day

01

Product Design & Scheme Architecture
  • Define and evolve the structure of Warren’s supplementary risk covers: life insurance, guaranteed income (arbeidsongeschiktheid), and premium waiver.

  • Design cover parameters: benefit levels, waiting periods, exclusions, eligibility,… that balance member protection with fund sustainability.

  • Benchmark against market practice and propose improvements as the membership base grows and diversifies.

  • Develop clear member-facing documentation that makes complex cover terms genuinely understandable.

02

Pricing, Underwriting & Technical Provisioning
  • Build and maintain actuarial pricing models for each risk cover using appropriate biometric and financial assumptions.

  • Set and review technical provisions (IORP II-compliant) on a recurring basis, and prepare actuarial reports for the Board.

  • Define underwriting criteria and escalation processes for non-standard member cases.

  • Monitor claims experience against pricing assumptions and propose tariff adjustments when needed.

  • Support annual financial statements with actuarial sign-off and sensitivity analysis.

03

Reinsurer & TPA Management
  • Own the relationship with the reinsurance partner: negotiate treaty terms, monitor exposure, manage bordereau reporting.

  • Manage the third-party administrator (TPA) for day-to-day claims processing: SLA monitoring, data quality, escalation handling.

  • Coordinate contract renewals and conduct periodic performance reviews with both partners.

  • Ensure reinsurance and TPA arrangements remain fit for purpose as the fund scales.

04

Claims & Member Support
  • Oversee the end-to-end claims process for life, income protection, and premium waiver events.

  • Act as internal escalation point for complex or contested claims, with both technical precision and human empathy.

  • Liaise with employers and HR teams to ensure smooth notification, documentation, and settlement.

  • Track claims trends and feed learnings back into product design and underwriting policy.

05

Treasury & Financial Controls
  • Manage premium collection flows between the fund, employers, and the reinsurer.

  • Maintain an accurate reserve ledger and ensure cash flows related to risk covers are properly reconciled.

  • Flag liquidity or reserve adequacy concerns proactively to fund management and the Board.

  • Support the audit process with actuarial documentation and risk cover financial data.

This Role Is for You If…

You’ve built solid actuarial or insurance expertise and you’re ready to run something, not just model it.

  • You have 3–5+ years of experience in life insurance, group insurance, or pension fund risk covers at an insurer, reinsurer, consultancy, or in-house actuarial team.

  • You hold or are progressing towards an actuarial qualification (IAB, IFoA, AAE or equivalent). Strong non-qualified actuaries with relevant group insurance experience are also encouraged to apply.

  • You have hands‑on experience with biometric pricing, technical provisioning, and actuarial reporting as the person who built the model.

  • You understand Belgian group insurance structures: arbeidsongeschiktheid, overlijdensdekking, premievrijstelling, and their regulatory treatment under WAP and IORP II.

  • You’re comfortable managing external partners, you can hold a reinsurer to their SLA and a TPA to their data quality standard.

  • You communicate actuarial complexity in plain language: to boards, to HR directors, and to members who just need to understand what their cover means.

  • You care about the human side of insurance: you understand that behind every claim is a real situation.

  • Native Dutch speaker, fluent in English. French is a genuine advantage.

Most importantly: you want to build an insurance operation that members can genuinely rely on, and you want your name on it.
