Job summary

Syngenia SA seeks a Master’s level Structural Engineer to design and calculate structures from concept to implementation study. You will collaborate with the Structural Engineering team and, for geotechnical aspects, with the Geo Engineering group.

You will agree on required documents and timing with the Lead Engineer at project start, report unforeseen issues, and ensure work complies with our quality and safety rules while pursuing sustainable, cost-efficient solutions. Travel occasionally.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Engineering (M.Sc.Eng.) – construction engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant technical experience in design and engineering for infrastructure or building projects, including structural calculations.
• Knowledge of stability concepts in infrastructure or building projects.
• Good understanding of applicable construction techniques.
• Good communication skills and being a team player.
• French or Dutch language skills, or both, plus very good English.
• Occasional travel may be required.

Job description

• Responsible for the design and calculation of structures (concrete, steel, wood, etc.) from concept to implementation study.
• Creative in looking for structural solutions to specific problems, taking into account design and budget.
• On a technical level, be assisted in the assignments by colleagues from the Structural Engineering teams and in the context of geotechnical aspects, the team Geo Engineering will be called upon.
• At the start of an assignment, make agreements with the Lead Engineer about the documents to be supplied, as well as about the timing.
• Carry out the work in accordance with the agreed hours. In the event of unforeseen matters, report this immediately to the Lead Engineer. Projects are carried out in accordance with our internal quality system and the health and safety rules.
• Communicate the progress of the work in the projects with the Lead Engineer and the Manager on a regular basis.
• Help with the preparation of quotations and contracts;
• Strive for sustainable and efficient solutions.
• Keep track of the standards, guidelines and developments in the field.

Profile:

• Master’s degree in Engineering (M.Sc.Eng.) – construction engineering or equivalent;
• Minimum 3 years of relevant technical experience with regard to design and engineering in infrastructure or building projects, including calculations on Structures.
• Knowledge regarding stability concepts in infrastructure or building projects.
• Good understanding of the applicable construction techniques.
